Re: Braces off in two weeks...top teeth sticking out

UPDATE So I did get debraced this morning, on time and everything. My top teeth moved in just a teeny bit more since I first posted two weeks ago....no, they're not perfect but they're not panic-inducing, either. :D Overall, I just decided that I'd gotten what I wanted out of the braces. My crooked/...

Re: Braces off in two weeks...top teeth sticking out

This has all been incredibly helpful, you guys. Thank you. When I went into this, I wasn't really looking for cosmetic improvement...I just knew I needed to do something about the crowding. I couldn't bite into things, I couldn't floss, my gums were a mess, etc etc etc. I am overall thrilled with th...

No, that's how they are right now. The teeth on the left side meet up better than the teeth on the right side.

Re: Braces off in two weeks...top teeth sticking out

What is the point of asking us how we would feel? They are your teeth, and if you are unhappy with them, that's all that matters. Because my ortho seems to think they're fine, and my husband seems to think they're fine, and I felt like I was going crazy for being unhappy. Especially since I'd decli...

And for comparison's sake, here is a "before" shot, as well as an "early" braces photo so you can see how bad the crowding was in the beginning.

Braces off in two weeks...top teeth sticking out

Okay, I need someone to talk me down here. :( I'm scheduled to get my braces off two weeks from today, and I'm concerned about how they look. Background: I've had braces on for a little less than a year. My initial problem was a skeletal open bite, an overjet, and severe crowding on the bottom row. ...

Re: Ceramic or metal .........hmmmmmmmm????

I debated for a long time before finally choosing metal brackets. For me, it mostly came down to cost---the ceramics were about $300 more expensive and I couldn't justify it. Plus, I drink a lot of black coffee and I was worried about the ligatures staining. Personally, the appearance of the metal b...

Re: Healthy eating tips when teeth hurt?

I swear by Slim-Fast shakes. I never drank them before I got braces, but now I have at least one a day. Tons of protein and vitamins in tasty liquid form!

My other favorite healthy treat is a mashed-up avocado with a squirt of lime juice and some kosher salt. Heavenly.

Re: Shopping list...

That Water Pik is going to be your best friend. I got mine about five days after I got my braces on and it's WONDERFUL...it just blasts all those tiny food particles out of the crevices between my teeth and brackets!

Re: What did you pay for surgical wisdom tooth removal?

I just had mine out last Friday. Total cost was somewhere around $1200 (including IV sedation). I paid $160 out-of-pocket and insurance covered the rest.

Re: Plleeasse tell me how long these bands & hooks on will h

Mine took just over a week before they stopped hurting. I remember thinking it would never get better, because it hurt to chew SO much and I was going through so much wax. Eventually, though, your mouth just toughens up. I'm at two weeks tomorrow and I've gotten so used to them that I almost forget ...

Re: Hatred of Eating-Will it pass?

Yeah, the Waterpik really makes a huge difference. It just blasts the little food bits right out of there. If you're like me and snack a lot at work or school or whatever, it helps to stock up on snacks that won't get stuck in your braces. Yogurt is AWESOME. So is pudding and applesauce. And I've be...

Same here! I'm almost two weeks in at this point, and I'm FINALLY at the point where my mouth isn't sore anymore and I've stopped having to use tons of wax. What a relief that is!

Re: Oral Surgery Today!

Ooh, I feel your pain. I just got my remaining three wisdom teeth out on Friday, also under general anesthesia. Mine went smoothly, thank goodness, although I hated not being able to brush my teeth or use mouthwash for two days!! Hope yours went well with minimal pain/swelling...keep us posted!
