Re: Inman aligners
Ok Vicky that's not too bad. Has anyone on here just had the bonded wire fitted as a retainer and used no other method? Did your teeth stay straight with wire? I'm really panicking as I have the wire and also the clear plastic retainer but my dog has just chewed it and I'm worried that by the time I...

Re: Inman aligners
Just got out of dentists! 21 weeks later and I finally am finished with my IA :-) I have the bonded wire behind teeth which is fine. Less annoying than composites. And I have a clear plastic retainer that I have to wear all the time for 3 months then at nights for ever but limiting to 2/3 nights a w...

Re: Inman aligners
If the buttons are at the bottom edge of your teeth then place the bar above them, it's so bar doesn't slip down teeth. Or if button is near to gum put bar below to stop IA slipping up. If they are on back I'm assuming they are furthest away from gum x

Re: Inman aligners
Hi everyone, hope your treatment is all going smoothly. A quick update from me. Im just over 19 weeks now. Yes it sounds shocking especially when i was quoted 12 weeks but to be honest it hasnt bothered me and the time has gone over quickly. I had my moulds taken for retainer which i will get in ano...

Re: Inman aligners
Hi everyone, havnt posted for a few weeks so thought I'd give an update. I'm onto 17 weeks 4 days. Was quoted 12 weeks but coldsores put me back a couple of weeks etc. to be honest, I'm at the stage where I don't mind that I still have brace. It is part of my everyday life now. Did have a few panick...

Re: Inman aligners
Today I am on 15 weeks and 5 days. Originally quoted 12 weeks but coldsores etc put treatment time back. Went to dentist last week expecting to get my clear retainers and my whitening trays. I did not get them, but instead my dentist tightened up all the springs on my IA. I am really happy with how ...

Re: Inman aligners
Hi mater, you do not get numbed for the filing but I honestly wouldn't worry, it does not hurt. It's just thin strips of sandpaper type stuff. A couple of times my dentist has gone a little too near to my gum and has caught it but that just hurts for a second and I've never had to stop her from fili...

Re: Inman aligners
Hi all, I'm 13 weeks now. Was a dentists a couple days ago and she is really happy with my teeth. However I still feel that although they are great, a fraction more filing and they would be perfect (I dont know if im just being extremely picky about this). Anyway she took moulds for whitening trays ...

Re: Inman aligners
Ozzy its great to hear your bottom aligner is not causing you too many problems :D Hopefully it will be smooth sailing for you. I like what you said about expecting a perfect smile but realizing that you need to be realistic and understand your dentist can only work with what youve got. I feel that ...

Re: Inman aligners
Tigerlily, I wouldn't worry. My teeth all moved at different times, the most protrusive being the last. The dentist may use certain techniques through your treatment to help certain teeth move eg putting a composite blob on a particular tooth to get the IA bar to sit in the position needed to move a...

Re: Inman aligners
Yes your exactly right, the slurred speech is definitely worth it! I have had a massive change in my teeth since I got my IA. My problem was that my two front teeth stuck out, one much worse than the other and then my two second teeth were set a little bit back. I also needed an expander built into ...

Re: Inman aligners
Hi Snoopy, Good on you for taking the plunge! My advice would be, prepare yourself for how much bulkier the IA feels when you first get it in and your speech will be horrendous at first. I'm 10.5 weeks in and although my speech is so much better now, it's still not normal. I still find myself taking...
