Elastics for Erupting Back/sides

I've currently got two elastics either side in a kind of overlapping v^ formation to try to erupt the molars and side teeth to eliminate the deep bite. Does anyone have any idea of what sort of time-scales I'm looking at to bring the rear teeth together? We are talking about max 2mm on one side and ...

Re: Lower lateral incisor removal

I only have 3 incisors on the bottom (adult tooth never formed). No one notices unless it's pointed out. The only downside is that in order to maintain symetry they can't line up the middle of the top incisors with the middle of the bottom ones as there will be 4 on the top and 3 on the bottom, inst...

Re: Seriously, how visible are lower ceramics?

I've got upper linguals and lower ceramics and people don't notice them at all. My own sister didn't even notice I'd got them til I pointed them out, in fact no one has noticed unless I've shown them. I think it's just people like us with braces who notice other people's braces, most folks aren't a...

Re: thinking about buying a waterpik?

In my opinion it's overrated. Don't get me wrong it's enjoyable to use and feels good to move bits of food out your mouth, but... this food would remove itself after a drink or swirl of water usually, it doesn't replace brushing and doesn't replace flossing, it's a bit of a novelty item in my view....

Re: Anyone else not taking progress pictures?

I have taken photos... its the best way to see progress, by comparing photos between appointments. I also ask a lot of questions and query things I don't understand. Actually some of the questions on here really surprise me, like "my ortho has done such and such, what do you think he is plannin...

Re: Waterpik

I spent 50$ on the Waterpik Ultra, which has a large tank and plugs into a socket. Yes, I've got both the portable one and the Ultra and the Ultra is WAY more powerful.... if you don't need the portability I would definitely recommend the mains powered Ultra. It's also easier to use because the hea...

Re: Here we go then...

First 6 week followup tomorrow... tops have been on 7 weeks, bottoms have been on 6 weeks. Apart from the broken wire everything has been pretty good. Eating is now fine, just avoid hard or crunchy stuff. Speech is virtually normal too now, just the odd lispy word if I've been talking a lot. Not use...

Re: 15 months in - hmm...

I have incognito on the top and conventional ceramics on the bottom... it's been 3 weeks now and no one has noticed the ceramics at all which really surprised me. My bottom teeth do show when I talk and they look so obvious to me but obviously not to other people. If it's any consolation, knowing wh...

Re: Infamous Speech Impediment

I'm coming up to one month with top linguals only (conventional ceramics on bottom) and my speech has been pretty good since the beginning. It's probably easier with only having to deal with the top but apart from the odd random lispy word that still creeps in (for no apparent reason it seems) I can...

Re: 15 months in - hmm...

Hi, can I ask which brand of linguals you are using? It's a bit worrying that they aren't giving you the results you hoped for, have they offered any sort of explanation as to why this is?

Hope you get a satisfactory solution in place soon!

Re: Unspec's overcrowding story

Congrats on your fast progress! 8) the pain has been quite manageable and I've been lucky not to get any ulcers from the brace rubbing in my mouth. Your ceramics look very similar to mine and I've had no trouble with them either. When I first felt the spiky edges I thought there was going to be trou...

Re: Here we go then...

Hi Jem, Yeah as guys (in particular UK guys) we definitely seem to be in the minority for some reason! :) No one has actually noticed I have braces on my teeth yet which has surprised me. I thought the bottom ceramics would get spotted for sure but if they have been then no one has said anything. I'...

Re: Here we go then...

The new wire was sent from Incognito in Germany on Friday and arrived this morning. Had the broken wire removed and the new wire fitted so we are back on track!

I feel like no one is reading this...

Re: Here we go then...

First set back - after just one week the incognito wire has snapped exactly in the centre of the bracket behind a top lateral incisor! You couldn't even tell until one side became dislodged and stabbed me in the gum. Can't see the ortho until Tuesday so the dentist has cut the wire off flush with th...
