Re: Finally Debraced!
I don't know the name of the bracket but my linguals were old style with chunky brackets, then lowers were replaced with regular ceramics on the outside. Various power chains were required and elastics for the last couple of months.

Re: Should I get braces here or abroad?
As others have mentioned, I do think it would be better to live closer to your ortho, you may end up paying more in travel costs than getting treated in the UK. I had to visit my ortho every 4 or 5 weeks, plus a few times needed to pop in between appointments to get things tweaked like loose bracket...

Finally Debraced!
Hi all So here's my before and after pictures - braced January 2011, debraced March 2014. I love my result, I can bite my teeth together - such a novelty! My full story can be read in the Lingual Forum, it's near the top at the moment. Apologies for the quality of the after picture but it's the best...

Apologies for the quality of the after picture but it's the best I could do, I'm also wearing my Essix A+ retainers. Got fixed retainer wires on ...

Re: 15 months in - hmm...
I did, I did! I will put up pictures but am away for a few days. It was excruciating due to first ortho having used bonder that wouldn't file down but we got there in the end. Got a sore jaw and my teeth feel weird but it's great! I got a fixed wire behind my bottom 6 teeth and top 4 teeth and colle...

No, the movements are so subtle, only you and anyone scrutinising your teeth will notice!

Re: 15 months in - hmm...
Hi there, I'm actually getting my braces off on Tuesday and can't wait!! So it's taken another year of tweaks. I still have linguals on top and my new ortho has done a good job of straightening. If you have an ortho who knows what he's doing then you shouldn't need ceramics! Good luck.

Re: Seriously, how visible are lower ceramics?
I've got upper linguals and lower ceramics and people don't notice them at all. My own sister didn't even notice I'd got them til I pointed them out, in fact no one has noticed unless I've shown them. I think it's just people like us with braces who notice other people's braces, most folks aren't as...

Re: 15 months in - hmm...
Hi all A wee update on where I am... nearly two years in. So in October my lower linguals were replaced with ceramics, I don't mind them and they've certainly made a massive difference in a short period of time. I've also been transferred to a more experienced ortho (thankfully he's billing my origi...

Re: Process of swapping Braces
Hmm, I'm not sure what type of ceramics they are, sorry. They don't look bulky though and I'm quite happy with them, would possibly maybe consider them for my uppers too if my new wire doesn't work. The removal of the linguals was fine, just took a bit of grinding to get rid of the adhesive. I hadn'...

Re: Process of swapping Braces
Hey Jesscat, have replied to you on my other post but just thought I'd reply to you here too in case you don't see it! Yep, I had this done today on my lowers, the linguals were taken off, all the glue was removed and the ceramics put on. The ceramics took nowhere near as long as the linguals did to...

Re: From lingual to ceramics...
Well, today I got my clear ceramics on my bottom teeth. My gums are killing me from where the linguals have been taken off, seems like the linguals were almost embedded in the gums and they're all red, puffy and ouch! I'm happy with the way the ceramics look, barely noticeable and my ortho is confid...

Re: 15 months in - hmm...
Yeh, i've no problem with ceramincs on the lowers (though when I went for my initial consultation my ortho said there would be no need) but I just don't want them on the top, it would make me paranoid if nothing else! I guess I'm just upset that I got lots of assurances that my linguals would work a...

Re: 15 months in - hmm...
Hi there I'm not too sure of the system name, would need to go look out my paperwork, but they look like the Social Six ones. The brackets are quite chunky, apparantly the Incognito ones, with slimmer brackets are much better but much more expensive. The explanation I got was that it's difficult to ...

From lingual to ceramics...
Hi all, I posted this in the lingual board but it's rather quiet over there so have come here to rant too... Long story short - 17 months of linguals, great results in widening my arch, no results in straightening my top and bottom teeth. My ortho consulted with another ortho and they now agree that...
