Re: What's your cleaning routine???

So far I only have had upper braces since June 19. On my last visit for a cleaning my hygenist recommended that I not brush with toothpaste, but brush with Listerine instead. But still use the Prevident gel before going to sleep. I see my Ortho next week, so I will check him anyway. I have to say th...

Low maintenance foods

Ok, so what types of food should I avoid with braces? I know not chewy or sticky or hard. But aren't some foods easier to clean out than others. For instance if you eat chocolate cake, it will be messy. But not if you have chocolate pudding. Lettuce I find also gets stuck. So, i avoid that. I had a ...

Ok, so I searched the data bases and the internet and I see the wire adjusts based on body temp.

Re: How soon should I be able to see a difference?

My question is is the arch wire working all the time during the 6 weeks before you see the ortho or just in the first couple of days. I know the movements are small and the wire is heat activated. So when your mouth gets hot, they start to work? When does it get hot, when you drink hot liquids? When...

Re: Getting my wires tomorrow

Yeah, i know how you felt. The faster the wires go on the faster you can look forward to the day when they are removed and your teeth emerge from its cocoon like a caterpillar to a beautiful butterfly.

Re: Flossing question...

After buying one bag of Flossfish, i found SuperFloss in the supermarket. Wotrks better than floss since one end is stiff and it eliminates the step of threading the floss though the threader thingy.

Re: Blame it on the alcohol

Well. I guess it isnt the alcohol because the brackets and band are still irritating my mouth. 3 days later still bothering me. They said my mouth has to "toughen up". My Ortho says this is normal and i should use the wax. I find the wax to be more of a pain. I found a product i used when ...

Re: Flossing question...

I think they know you won't do it that much anyway. I saw the Flossfishers and they sound like they might be easier so i ordered a bag. Only 5 bucks. Worth a shot. I cant see flossing though till you have a meal.

Re: Flossing question...

My Ortho's office said to floss 3-4 times a day. Does anyone do that?
I dont even eat three meals a day, maybe two. I do use the Waterpik water flosser after each meal, rinse and brush. I have not tried regular flossing yet but i guess i will be doing that too.

Re: Blame it on the alcohol

Two days after getting top ceramic braces, they really were irritating the inside of my upper lip.
I drank alcohol last night, and i know alcohol dehydrates you so i am wondering if that was the cause or if the archwires are working.

Re: Blame it on the alcohol

I usually drink Vodka and diet Coke. But now with braces on I don't know what the Coke will do to wire and brackets. I have seen videos where Coke eats through metal. I also read where Coke can unglue the brackets. Just to be safe, I am drinking Crystal Light and Vodka. I only drink on days ending i...

Re: Over 50's club ?

I am a married male over 50. 52 to be exact. I had to live with imperfect teeth my whole life. My parents didn't have the money back then. Anyway, after years of my regular dentist advising me to see an Orthodonist, I finally did. The cost was in my budget so I decided to go forward. But first I had...
