When looking at progress pictures
Have you ever liked the progress you teeth have made, but then noticed weight gain or some other undesirable thing unrelated to orthodontia?

Re: Adjustments don't hurt... is my teeth not moving??
Doesn't pain come not from movement, but from teeth being pushed but not moving? I've actually had a tooth hurt, "click" into its new place, and immediately feel better. If it moves right away it won't have time to hurt.

Re: Same treatment- $2000 difference WWYD?
I would say if you are reasonably comfortable with #1, go for them, otherwise do a couple more consults. $2k is a lot of money for what is supposed to be the same result.

Re: Is Decalcification a Reason not to get Braces?
It's a big issue with kids(~45% of them, mostly boys, get it) but not with those with good hygiene. Brush and floss daily, and have regular cleanings and you should be fine. Brush once a day and have some soda before bed (like a lot of teens/preteens do), and you probably will get decalcified teeth.

Re: Has anyone ever asked for their money back?????
Is your current provider able and willing to provide you with braces? If so, are they charging extra? Mine said that I could finish off with braces if the need arose after the end of invisalign treatment.

Re: Fear of dental extraction
Injecting the novocaine is mildly painful(comparable to getting a shot on the skin), but the tooth pulling itself is painless. I lied low for the next day, was careful how I chewed for the next week and a half, and was fine after that

Re: Anyone NOT regret their extractions?
I don't regret my 2 upper premolar extractions. I'm already glad I have to strain my lip less to keep them closed and look forward to the day I don't have to strain at all to keep my lips closed.

Re: Intro and 3 orthodontic opinions - your thoughts?
My case is somewhat similar to yours, (5 mm overjet, 4mm overbite at start, only mildly crooked teeth). I looked around, and ended up choosing what's closest to your option #3. I got 2 upper premolar extractions as I wanted (and am seeing) my lip incompetence improve. I am 4.5 months into 20 months ...

Re: My First Day with Invasalign
My first aligner was the worst by far. One thing I would suggest is to change aligners after dinner/before bed, so you don't have to take it out for the first twelve hours. Hang in there!

Re: Braces from dentist?
Some things to ask(whether a dentist or ortho): How many cases similar to mine have you treated? Can I see before and after pictures? Etc. etc. Personally I had a dentist do orthodontic work on me when I was a kid and I'm having an orthodontist do the work now. The one I had as a kid was a great den...

Re: Food getting stuck between metal band and molar-what to
Probably recommended going every four months for dental cleanings to maintain tooth and gum health, basically saying every 6 months isn't sufficient. Just my guess anyway.

Re: Ortho says no Damon Lower Clears. Help?
I know there are lower clears with some other brands of self-ligating braces that do the same thing as damon.... There is nothing special about damon braces in particular other than their marketing.

What was your primary reason for orthodontic treatment?
Was it appearance, function, or both? For me, function was primary, appearance was nice but secondary.
