Re: Has anyone done jaw surgery to correct failed othodontic

I've heard of several other good ones in different places. I chose Gunson because I liked the plan a lot more than the other 2 surgeons I consulted with. In fact, he was the only one to give me a full 100% complete plan on the first visit. Now, it's going to be very difficult to make the follow-ups....

Gunson is actually the surgeon I'm lined up with right now. They do accept insurance, but usually insurance doesn't cover a lot through them as they are out of network.

Re: Has anyone done jaw surgery to correct failed othodontic

Before I saw this orthodontist, I was reading about palette expansion in adults - looking for ways to reverse some of the narrowness. That isn't what this orthodontist did though. He simply changed the angle of the teeth (my teeth were angled in fairly substantially). Now they're much closer to stra...

Re: Has anyone done jaw surgery to correct failed othodontic

I can't figure out how to edit my previous post, but I wanted to add the following: After this second set of braces, I was devastated with how narrow my teeth were AND the fact that they went back into an open bite. My third orthodontist has done something maybe few others would do - but I'm happy w...

Re: Has anyone done jaw surgery to correct failed othodontic

I've had braces 3 times. The first and second time were with the same orthodontist and they gave me a discount for the second visit (still not sure why I did this). On the second treatment plan, they did extractions. After the second round of braces, my teeth went back into an open bite after severa...

Re: How do people come up with the money (just curious)?

Thanks for the replies. CaliforniaKid: 40k (surgeon) + 10K (OR) + additional fee for days spend in the hospital = ?? Bloomquist was asking 15k for EVERYTHING. Of course, he doesn't have any before/after pictures online anywhere and I'm not sure how modern his approach is to the procedure. He seemed ...

Re: How do people come up with the money (just curious)?

Hey, I'm new here. I've been saving money for a few years now - cutting costs whenever I can. I had a consult with Bloomquist in Seattle last year which was very reasonably priced ~15k. I had a consultation a year before that in San Francisco which they listed at 50-60k. I just scheduled an appointm...
