Re: What to do after getting TADs? Aftercare?
I was originally told that I would only get 3 TADs (including one in the roof of my mouth) but somewhere along the way, my orthodontist changed the plan to 4 TADs, on the outside of my jaw. Sorry I can't be of any help :\

Re: What to do after getting TADs? Aftercare?
Thanks for your replies! I see that we were all mostly left to our own devices after getting TADs, haha. Since I last posted, I developed the mother of all canker sores on the part of my lip contacting one of the TADs, but I think this was more due to the unusual location of the TAD than anything I ...

What to do after getting TADs? Aftercare?
Hi everyone, I just had 4 TADs placed this morning. All in all, the experience was bearable, although the first one going in was actually a bit painful. However, it was over very quickly, with little/no bleeding that I could tell of, at least. The numbness has worn off now and I feel a dull ache, ki...

Re: My braces journey - correcting bimax protrusion!
Hi lawyerwithbraces! I just wanted to say welcome, and mention that my case sounds very similar to yours, except for the fact that my concern was mainly cosmetic (protrusive profile, overjet, lip incompetence) and my bite was fine, with very minimal crowding. I had my 4 first premolars removed 4 wee...

Re: Jaw soreness/fatigue after molar buildups + extractions
Update: the orthodontist assistant basically said the same thing...that it is fairly normal especially considering how recently the braces were put on, and that I'm still adjusting to the new bite. I do think you should bring it up with your orthodontist again if the headaches continue or intensify!...

Re: Food is stuck between my molar and bicuspid
Wow...is this an issue that is particular to braces? I was an avid popcorn lover before the braces and it never happened to me. I hope your problem gets resolved quickly, Cyborger!

Re: Jaw soreness/fatigue after molar buildups + extractions
I'm going to my orthodontist's office to have a pontic replaced (fake tooth over my extraction gap), so I'll ask the technician too! It seems rather severe that you're actually getting headaches! I'm not getting them but I do wake up several times during the night, realizing that I'm clenching. I'll...

Re: What happens if you need an extraction while wearing adu
As sweetcynic said, you'd want to make sure that your orthodontist is quickly advised of the need to extract a tooth, as it could have a big impact on your braces treatment plan. As for the actual extraction, I imagine that your orthodontist would temporarily remove your archwire and possibly the br...

Re: Jaw soreness/fatigue after molar buildups + extractions
Yes, I forgot to add in my post that I've been clenching during the night! That has been really worrying me too, although I noticed that it first began after I got the extractions, and has continued (perhaps worsened?) after the braces and molar buildups. Thanks for your reply. I sure hope that it i...

Jaw soreness/fatigue after molar buildups + extractions
Hello everyone, I was wondering whether it's normal to get jaw pain/fatigue after chewing soft solids. I had 4 first premolars extracted 3 weeks ago, and my ceramic braces and molar buildups placed 1 week ago. I'm not talking about tooth pain - I've grown accustomed to the slight tooth soreness/tigh...

Re: How long did it take for your new-braces-pain to subside
Hooboy, just a few hours later, I started feeling the tightness and soreness, especially in my lower arch. Just now, my lips are starting to catch on all the sharp little brackets and feel raw. I think it's because I was smiling too much. :| After each smile, my lips try to close and just get ravage...

Re: Bite Turbos or Molar Build-ups
Oof, the whole 2 years? Quite a shocker! I kind of tentatively asked the orthodontic assistant if I'd need the molar buildups for the entire term of my treatment (I'm also 2 years) and she said probably not, but without any real certainty. Ah well. I was kind of expecting the possibility of molar bu...

Re: How long did it take for your new-braces-pain to subside
Good idea, blissmom! Alas, my braces appointment was this morning, so I didn't have time to take your advice. :P Pain-wise, I don't feel any at all, yet. I did notice a feeling a pressure when they inserted my archwire, but it's already subsided. That's pretty consistent with what everyone here said...

Re: Bite Turbos or Molar Build-ups
Juicyjuicy and Dee, I'm in the same boat as you guys TODAY! I just came back from getting my braces put on, and along with them, I have those dreaded blue molar build-ups on my upper arch. :( The orthodontic assistant said that they were only mild build-ups, but they feel very odd to me. Besides not...

Re: How long did it take for your new-braces-pain to subside
Thanks, everybody! I guess I shouldn't get my hopes up, as I can see that everyone has quite different experiences. I'm not looking forward to the wobbly feeling, haha.
