Re: Your Thoughts Please
To be honest I had no idea I had an overbite. I was concerned about my crooked teeth and my dentist referred me to an orthodontist, and it was during that consultation that I was told I had an overbite and would need surgery to fix it. A bit of a shock! I was then referred to the hospital and it we...

Re: Your Thoughts Please
Thank you for that helpful info.
Another question: did you have to push much to get the surgery or did you just point out the overjet to your dentist and go with the flow?
Thanks!

Re: Uk Patients
Hi mike, I'm uk based, been in braces for 6 months and am waiting for double jaw surgery as well... It's a while off I think! Any questions shout :) Andy, NHS should cover it proving it's a function issue you have? I don't have any dramatic problems with it, just lots of little things like aching, ...

Re: I have a surgery date!
Thanks for your messages, yep i'm NHS. I've got a phone number to ring this week to find out what the situation is now. I need as much notice as possible to arrange cover at work. I am disappointed but i'm not distraught - it's not like i'm ill and need this surgery right now! So close yet so far a...

Thanks, and thanks for your post in my threadHelenUK wrote:My surgery will be in Sheffield, on the NHS so I don't know about private costs. I won't now be having surgery tomorrow as it was cancelled, so I'm waiting to find out a new date now.

Re: Your Thoughts Please
Hi, your profile looks a lot like mine did, and you probably would be able to get treatment on the NHS. Ask your dentist for a referral to the maxfax dept at the hospital, or have a consultation at an orthodontist and get referred that way. I don't know prices for going private. The NHS have been f...

Re: I have a surgery date!
So I went to the orthodontist today and found out that my wafer fits, but that my surgery has been cancelled for next week due to emergency cancer ops, I don't have a new date yet but its definitely not in the next 2 weeks. :(
Cant' really argue with that! Did you ...

Re: How do people come up with the money (just curious)?
Does anyone know if there is some kind of insurance for this in the UK? I'm too old for NHS freebies unfortunately!

Another newbie here and the same age too! Not got anything myself yet, just trying to gauge whether jaw surgery is the right option for me.

Your Thoughts Please
A year or so ago someone mentioned to me that I have a very pointy-nosed profile - 'you look like a bird,' she said, and laughed - and ever since then I can't help but think about the fact that my profile is out of proportion. After a bit of research I have discovered that the problem is a short jaw...
