Re: Getting bottom braces next monday, very worried
I got my bottom ones on 4 months after the top ones and I really saw no big difference. It took about 2 days for me to get used to them and I never really had to eat soft food. I had power chains on the top and bottom for about 6 months and never had any real pain. Try to relax. Since you didn't hav...

Re: Regrets and cavities
My front teeth finally budged some more and now I see another black spot. I regret not fixing this issue as a kid and kicking myself for it. I hope I don't need to get crowns because brackets don't stay put as well. I should have gotten dentures. They're cheaper. I have 1 crown and yes, the bracket...

Re: Ceramic brackets: self-ligating or clear ligatures?
I got my upper linguals just a week ago and in january I'll get lower ceramics. I can't post pictures yet, so I hope this works! My orthodontist offer two options for ceramic brackets: Clarity SL (self-ligating, see picture here: http://www.better-smiles.de/German/Resources/beh31.gif ) Clarity Adva...

Re: Ceramic brackets: self-ligating or clear ligatures?
I've said this once, and I'll say it again: if you're going with traditional ceramic brackets, request SS wire ties. Clear ligatures stain immediately. The SS wire ties with ceramic brackets are great if you want subtle. It bothers me when people mention often someone at the ortho office makes excu...

Re: Ceramic brackets with metal ligatures
I've had metal ligatures with ceramic brackets from day one. I find the metal ties not very noticeable....some people didn't notice I had braces for a few months. The great thing about metal ties is they don't stain (the brackets don't stain either) so you can eat all the curry, tomatoes, wine, coff...

Re: I have 12 hours to decide what kind of braces to get!
I have ceramic with metal ties so no staining but I now have power chains that do stain. If I could do it all again, I would probably choose self-ligating, ceramic braces.
Good luck!
Good luck!

Wonderful advice! This should be pinned and all people new to adult orthodontics should read it.

Re: List of food that can discolour braces
Nothing! I have metal ties instead of elastics and have no staining. The ceramic brackets themselves don't stain. If you want to know what stains elastics/powerchains then the list is endless: anything with turmeric (often pumpkin and tomato soups have this to enhance the colour) curry coffee tea wi...
