Permanent Lingual Retainer on the back of my upper Centrals
I just got my upper perm lingual retainer wich rests against from upper anterior from tooth (1.2 to 2.2 = lateral incisor to lateral incisor). So as expected the cementing agent is used to keep the wire in place and a tiny gap is left at the interproxal region (the area where two teeth meet) so as t...

Re: Lower Laterals should be at same height as Lower Central
thanks for the reply. Yea i will definitely do that at my next appointment (Oct 21st). He did mention that if i had any more concerns that was the last time (before my lower lingual perm retainers go in). After looking in the mirror again i will definitely let him know that tooth 3.2 (my lower left ...

Lower Laterals should be at same height as Lower Centrals?
I currently am wearing braces and am curious...my doctor says i am almost complete (1-2 more sessions) but on closer inspection i notice that both my mandibular lateral incisors are 0.5 of a milometer lower than my central incisors they are adjacent to. This is for both laterals. Is this the correct...

Re: Missing donut!
Btw, are people still getting non-self-ligating braces still? I thought they fell out of fashion years ago. Seems more efficient to get self-ligating since it usually straightens teeth quicker and more efficiently than non. Conventionally ligated brackets are still the norm. They are less expensive...

Re: How long do you think it will take to close this gap?
Each person varies but to give you a rough estimate although my ortho purposely made a gap between my maxillary centrals and then proceeded to close it up. The gap was maybe 1-2mm wide. The entire process to close again took 3-months. Based on your gap i'd say it will take at least 6-months or more....

Re: Are my Canine + Lateral Incisors in Correct Position? (P
Yea i will be talking to him about it. I remember in my last visit (6 weeks ago) he did do a check on top and bottom and didn't even notice them so he may actually think they are in the correction positions. Go figure. I will be emailing him this photo prior to my appointment so we can discuss it mo...

Re: Missing donut!
Hahaha..i guess i am not the only one that was confused by the word "donut"....ahh so he/she is referring to the o-ring elastic. Btw, are people still getting non-self-ligating braces still? I thought they fell out of fashion years ago. Seems more efficient to get self-ligating since it us...

Re: Braces before wedding
Does your ortho offer lingual braces? It might not be as efficient but at least you wont have to worry about length of time and can wear them through your wedding. Alternatively, maybe you can get transparent/white brackets and on your wedding day just have the archwire removed which will help reduc...

Re: Completely confused about resorption. Help?
Correct me if i am wrong but i always thought resorption was the natural process of tooth movement due to ongoing process of both osteoclast and osteoblast.

Re: ortho or assistant doing adjustments?
My ortho lets the assistants do most of the work. he only does a quick check and moves on. However last time when it is a complex Detail bends he does the bends himself but then oddly lets the assitants put back the archwire which doesnt seem like a good idea since the wires need precise placement a...

Re: Changes to facial features
no change for me. But logically there should be with such changes. I would think that when the brackets come out the mouth will feel a whole lot of smaller and the face should look a bit different since u can feel there is a push the brackets are doing at least ot he lips.

Re: I survived adjustment 2.0...
That is fully expected. Each new adjustment visit is goign to be easier and easier (less pain). The hardest is always the first. I've gone thru so many that each new adjustment i no longer feel any pain at all...i just go back to eatting hard foods the next day.

Re: Plaque In One Month?
From my experiments i've tried using non-alcohol mouthwashes (e.g, Biotene), Xylitol, Novamin, Plax, etc and i notice none really work that well except for Linsterine Total Care. Very expensive stuff but i notice plaque buildup dropped to 0 when i started several months back. The others always ended...
