Re: My braces journey - correcting bimax protrusion!
Had a couple of adjustments lately, one to put some bends in my upper wire to intruded my upper incisors, however I am not sure how effective it has been, I haven't noticed a marked difference and its been approx six weeks. Have also received rubber bands to wear...they are not fun at all! Pretty so...

Re: Braces Journey from Chaotic Choppers - Australia
Looks great cc!
I totally relate with the wires sticking out at the back! I'm going to my ortho tomorrow to get mine trimmed actually. Wax helps but it comes off as soon as you start to eat! Hope it doesn't bother you too much!!

Oh wow I'm glad yours has gone away. I don't have a blocked nose but I will see whether it does away by itself!

Re: My braces journey - correcting bimax protrusion!
Had a wire changed and now one of my canines is ultra sensitive! I've never had sensitive teeth ever in my life but when I drank room temperature water it was soooooo sore. No idea what's happening but Im hoping it goes away fast!

Re: My braces journey - correcting bimax protrusion!
Hey Cc yes they can be brutal sometimes! I think self ligating braces might be easier to clean cause they dont need ligature makes it easier.but add power chains on and it's like a breeding ground for plaque and eventually calculus I guess. It's really easy for plaque to build up around the power ch...

Re: Lingual Braces - Melbourne Australia
I got a quote from smile solutions in CBD and it was approx 14000 for linguals for both arches and approx 6900 for metal normal braces. This includes moulds and consult fee for the ortho to see the X-rays ($100 for consult) and retainers I'm assuming if you split each in half and add it up that's ho...

Re: Orthodontic wires
Oh thank you both so much! My uppers are on 17 x 25 and lowers on 16s. I think I started on 16s after I got my teeth extracted. Makes so much sense now!

Orthodontic wires
I have a question which I can't find the answer to online. What do the numbers mean when an ortho talks about wires? I know that I am currently on steel wires but my ortho keeps mentioning numbers when he talks to the assistant. Eg 16 or 17 at my last appointment. Anybody care to shed light on this?...

Re: My braces journey - correcting bimax protrusion!
Had my first adjustment after getting power chains today, and boy, was it difficult and extremely painful! My ortho had significant trouble getting the wire into the brackets and was exerting SO much force that my eyes started to tear up and one bracket came off. Yes, it was THAT forceful I thought ...

Re: How Does Your Doctor Do It?
Hey Jill, your orthos method is normal, I have read about this method, it has two stages, canine retraction followed by incisor retraction. For my case, my ortho is retracting my canines and incisors at the same time. I'm not sure what the difference in outcome would be, but don't worry, I have hear...

Hey fellow Aussie! Thanks for posting on my thread! Glad to see another Aussie on the boards. Just read your thread and your extractions did not sound pleasant at all! Good to hear things are better now though. What state are you based at? I'm in VIC!

Re: My braces journey - correcting bimax protrusion!
Hey artichokeenthusiast! Glad to hear someone else with a similar case to mine! I started seeing changes after about 2-3 weeks. Well it was mostly feeling changes as I could start to touch my teeth together again. Teeth flaring and protrusion lessened and so I could touch my incisors again if I move...

My braces journey - correcting bimax protrusion!
Hey guys I'm new to the board (but have been enjoying reading your stories for a few months now!). I am a 24 year old lawyer currently based in Australia with braces! Since I was about 6 years old, every dentist I went to recommended I go see an orthodontist because they suspected I needed braces. I...
