Re: How Did You Decide Which Orthodontic Treatment Was For Y

All I knew is that I wanted the diastema gone, this year, so I took a big risk and went with the first consult. So far very happy I did that. Best investment ever! I chose metal since they are cheapest and supposed to move teeth faster. Also I knew I wouldn't wear invisilign like you're supposed to....

Re: retracting bottom teeth in order to close upper diastema

I'm only guessing, but judging from what he said, it sounds to me like your diastema won't close and still allow your upper teeth to sit over your bottom teeth (so if he closed it without retracting the bottom teeth you'd possibly end up with an underbite-does that make sense?). I think you'll look...

Re: Getting rid of the gap

The gap will close up quickly. It only took about 8 weeks for mine to close. I was in so much pain, but it is totally worth it! Check out my thread when you get a chance, and I really look forward to seeing your update pictures!

Re: If you hate your diastema...

I would look in the mirror and try to come to terms as well. funny thing is it always looked so much worse in pictures, than in the mirror... I completely agree with you! Even now when my orthodontist takes photos at my appointments to show how much the teeth have moved it almost makes me feel disa...

Re: If you hate your diastema...

I suppose the point here is that you have to do what is going to make you the most comfortable. I believe we only get one life, one experience on this earth and it is not to suffer or feel bad about ourselves. If you are unhappy with your teeth for whatever reason (or anything about your appearance...

Re: Closing a large diastema

It looks a little smaller but the pictures are kind of small so it is hard to tell. Did they put a power chain on the incisors?

Re: If you hate your diastema...

This is SOOO inspiring to hear. There are many within our society who take a "God/Nature made this way, so why change it?" approach to our diastemas...... While that is all well and good, I think I was also born on this planet to be truly happy and having braces has overall made me a happ...

Re: If you hate your diastema...

I 1000% agree with you. Highschool was a nightmare on my self esteem. I would always walk with my head down and mumble when I spoke, because I didn't want people to judge me based on my teeth. It was horrible! But you know, since being braced and seeing my diastema close and my teeth straighten out...
