Re: Permanent Vs Removable Retainer
I have both. Permanent ones don't enclose teeth and don't prevent all movement from occurring.

Re: Is orthodontic treatment quicker for the second time?
From what I heard it is now. As it takes teeth longer to move as an adult than as a kid. But hard to say for sure.

Re: Impacted Canines and braces
The tooth would probably go back to where it was wasting all your time and money spent in braces. Never quit mid treatment.

Re: Midline and retainers
Possible. How long until you get your retainer? Warning, the first few days it may feel like you just got braces again. (aka. pain). That is normal.

Re: Dropped retainers
Those are so light I doubt they would break by falling. The biggest concern is to not just grab it by the molar sections. Now a Hawley I would not want to drop.

There is absolutely no way of even guessing without knowing how much your overbite is, or knowing how fast your teeth move.

Re: Travelling aboard for 6 months
Depends on where you are traveling. Most countries have orthodontists that could help in case of needed repairs.
And you can always take your own ligatures and change them every month.

Re: Where should I start? ( need some advice )
My dental back story ---> Hello my name is Dayymo (not actually :P) I am 18 years old and I have absolute terrible teeth. This all started from a young age at around 8 years old I chipped one of my teeth on a fence. Around 2 years later when I was 10 I was at a pool (one with waves) and I tried to ...

Re: Anyone have a bonded retainer AND a hawley?
I have both. The permanent is only on the first six teeth. Without the Hawley in addition to it, the premolars/molars would not have any retention. Plus the permanent is only behind the teeth. It does not prevent them from going forward.

Re: I'm going to get braces this year!
The only reason why I wanted mine off when I got them off was due to the amount of dental work I needed to get done. I would have preferred to keep mine on longer also.

Call and get it adjusted. It should fit like a glove not an oven mitt.

Re: Just got braces off for the second time and my teeth are moving!!!!
I would hope it doesn't get loose in an hour. That would be a problem. My permanent is about a third tooth above gumline, so can easily floss under in and around it. I post a bunch of pics. Most are in my thread about my treatment. Go to the end for retainer pics. My permanent is no maintenance at a...
