english,
Yes I had to wear elastics all the time for the first 3 months but on my last appointment they told me to start only to wear them at night. I also have a tongue guard in place to stop my tongue from pushing my teeth away from the correct form.
Thanks for the encouragement from all of you!!

questions on ceramic braces
So I have ceramic braces on top but my ortho didn't want to put them on the bottom for fear that they would pop off when my teeth hit. But my question is on the top besides the actual ceramic brackets there is a bunch of wire...arch wires and wires wrapped around each bracket. It almost makes me reg...

Re: 4 months in braces...
At the beginning they were thinking 12-18 months....I am really hoping for less though. Do you think that's possible?

4 months in braces...
I started treatment 4 months ago for a very open bite (I'm not sure about what class and everything). I am already so happy with the results I have had but I was just how close I am to being done...what do you guys think? (pics included) Right when I got them on... http://imageshack.us/photo/my-imag...

Re: Did you date after braces?
I wish I was as confident as you all seem to be. I am definitely avoiding the whole dating scene until my braces are OFF! Part of the reason I am trying to get them off as quickly as possible...it sounds terrible I know but the braces tend to make me very self-conscious.

Re: Tongue Trainer/Tongue Basket
I got the tongue trainer a few months ago and it definitely took some getting used to...like a few months. It's worth is though because with it on I know that my teeth are able to get straight without my tongue getting in the way. It is a pain at first but once you get used to it it is worth it! Goo...

Re: What to do: 6 month Smiles vs. Invisaligns?
I would go with 6 month smiles. From what I have heard, invisilign is hard to manage and isn't as effective. If I were you I would go with what is actually going to improve your smile and make it worth the money. Good luck!!

Re: Braced yesterday
It gets easier I swear! But start with lots of yogurt, soups, and mashed anything (potatoes, apples, etc.). Don't worry though in a week or so you will be able to eat just about anything! I tend to stray away from things like chocolate and puddings in front of people just because it easily gets stuc...

Re: Filing down teeth
I'm worried about this too, my teeth still have the ridges they get when you get your new "grown-up" teeth so they will have to be filled off. From what I have heard though it doesn't hurt and only takes a matter of seconds.

Re: You ceramic, your kid metal. What we teach, preach???
I don't think so at all!! In this time you don't see many kids that don't have braces and most kids love to get cool colors which they can't do with ceramics! I am a college age-kid and I opted to get the ceramics because I thought they would be less noticeable but I almost wish I would have gotten ...

Re: Speech sounds horrible
I had to have a tongue guard put in along with my braces, and I definitely had some trouble with a lisp! I got all that done about 4 months ago and I would say it probably took 2 months to finally get rid of the lisp. That sounds like forever if it is something that bothers you (like it did me) but ...
