Re: How has your diet changed since getting braces?
Your diet will definitely change in the first month, I've lost 15 pounds in 5-6 Weeks since getting mine fitted, and only this week have I been able to start chewing properly with the back molars, its a crap time, but it passes fairly quickly!

Re: How soon after eating....
I can't say I've really "eaten" since being braced, but after my smoothies/shakes I'll do it within 10 mins, but if I know I'm going to eat again or have a drink that's not water I'll wait until after..

Re: Day 3 with braces - advice please
Hi lily! No advice, but I wanted to say you're not alone! I got a lower premolar extraction, brackets on top and bottom, wire only on bottom and the nance button on the 17th, & I'm 27, today I got the two upper premolars out and my top wire in, so I feel your pain, the nance button is so freakin...

Re: Nervous about two spacers tomorrow - still not wired
I had spacers in for about two Weeks, by the end, I actually enjoyed the chewing on rubber feeling! It gave me relief from the pressure of them. I know how you feel about brackets only, I've got my bottom all wired up, but my top is still in limbo, I've got that thing holding my molars back that ext...

Re: 24, UK. Need braces desperately. Need encouragement.
I'm like you too! My parents never forced me to see a dentist, and I grew up slightly resenting them for it, I had a fear of them, but I wish they had of pushed me, I've had severe overcrowding for years - it wasn't until I had to go in for an emergency that I saw they do plans for them, up until th...

Re: Help dealing with coil springs and spacers..
Ice cream and pain killers! Sorry I'm not much help, I've got my spacers in atm too and it sucks! Hurts more after attempting to eat, the only relief I get its by biting down on my bottom teeth (I've got two on one molar on each side up top), but that makes it hurt more later - feel like I'm teethin...

Re: does 'sharp, nerve' pain always mean the need for fillin
For me, that pain meant a partial root canal/temp filling (removing it for the braces) the only other time was when I needed a pre molar extracted (couldn't afford the root canal) at my last few visits xrays showed I needed nine fillings, haven't had an ounce of pain from any of them!
thanks for all the encouragement!! It's good to know that there are other people who have the same problem. Looks like the elastics will also cause a problem.
damn! I'm getting my ceramics on next week, and know elastics are in my near future, but if you listen cl...

Re: Nerves
YES! I initially went in for an emergency root canal (my dentist does mine, not an orthodontist) and id only been to a dentist one other time in my life! I had a fear of needles as a child, which turned into a fear of judgement and lectures about my teeth as an adult. I knew I needed a lot of work, ...
If you're only going to save $67... I would just pay monthly... Sounds daft but remember, these orthodontists are in companies that are there to make money, once they have all their money you lose a bit of leverage if they don't give you the service you should be get...
