Re: SARPE Surgery
So I got my bonded RPE off 5 months after surgery and it has fixed my small underbite. I was wondering though, is there a chance of relapse? Or is that just with non-surgical expansion cases?

Just got elastics and it feels like my jaws are moving
Hello. Just had elastics put in after getting my RPE off and I'm not sure if this is something normal. Because I had an underbite before my sarpe surgery, I don't really know what a perfect bite is supposed to feel like. Sometimes my bottom jaw moves and my bottom front teeth briefly hit the inside ...

Re: SARPE Surgery
Had my surgery last friday. A week ago at this moment I was worrying my ass off. I wish I had known how relatively pain-free it was. The day of surgery was kind of rough, but mainly because of the anesthesia side-effect of nausea and the fact that I couldn't eat a thing. Other than that, I woke up t...

Re: SARPE Surgery
I'm finally getting the surgery! Somehow I managed to get the surgery for only $1500! $500 for the anesthesia and $100 for the surgery. The surgeon is going to be doing the operation in his office rather than through all the hospital stuff, which is why the cost is so much less. My date is July 26th...

Re: SARPE Surgery
It's been awhile since I've been here. Still on my grind to get this thing covered. If worse comes to worst, I'll just go out of pocket to pay for it. Typically speaking, how much would an outpatient sarpe surgery cost? Any ideas?

Re: SARPE Surgery
Effing got denied coverage for SARPE surgery. So now I sit with braces and an RPE in my mouth for no good reason. Our only option now is to send in a re-worded request in to the insurance agency and hope for the best. Unfortunately, we just don't have the money to spend $25k on 'aesthetic' surgery. ...

Re: Is my canine tooth....shrinking?
I'm legitimately getting scared now...looking at these two pictures you can just tell much shorter it's gotten. The one without my face was taken about an hour after the braces. Not a good start....

Re: SARPE Surgery
Also, I might disagree here with katsface that the expansion is controlled by the ortho and not the surgeon. The surgeon job is only to loosen the bones and make sure no complication from the surgery, bleeding, recovery, etc. However the ortho decides what type of expander to use, how much to expan...

Re: SARPE Surgery
I got my braces and my RPE on! And my oh my is my expander noticeable. It extends down so much more than my teeth so when I laugh it looks like I'm missing my front teeth. It's a beautiful sight. I hope I get used to the feeling of constant pressure against my teeth and my lips. Other than that I'm...

Re: Is my canine tooth....shrinking?
What's really weird is how assymetrical my upper front teeth are and I didn't even notice until I got braces. I was showing my husband my non-matching teeth--one is much longer and a different shape--and so, of course since this is our new hobby, I had to look at his teeth. Um, yeah, it's come to t...

Re: Is my canine tooth....shrinking?
Thanks everyone. I am just extremely self conscious about my teeth so I examine every minute detail of them. I always get worked up over little things and expect the worst. I need to stop that haha

Is my canine tooth....shrinking?
I got braces and an RPE on last friday to correct an underbite/open bite/crossbite and I've already started to notice some changes. My concern right now is that it looks like my left canine (your right) appears to have shrunken. This couldn't possibly be the case, right? What's going on here?
