New "Problem" - I'm BITING My Lower Lip Even When I Talk!

Seventeen days ago I got my lower teeth wired and silicon bumpers attached to the tops of the brackets. I had a few days of not knowing where to put my lower jaw and eating anything tougher than yogurt was sheer agony. Well my lower jaw is now meeting up with my uppers and I can chew......MY LOWER L...

Re: Almost Six Months In And My Lowers Are Wired

Much improvement since getting my lowers wired on Thursday of last week. Of course I tried to do way too much. My husband and I went camping and "broke in" our new camping stove. I bought a nice slab of flat iron steak and set it to marinating in pineapple, lime and spices for the day. We ...

Re: notice of first change

I think I was about three weeks in when I began to see some change for the better. Of course everybody is different and change will become noticeable depending on their problems.

Almost Six Months In And My Lowers Are Wired

Well, it's getting really interesting now. For awhile I had a Lauren Hutton like gap between my central incisors. Cool. But when I got my new upper wire with a hot pink power chain the gap began to close by the time I got home. That was about six weeks ago. My orthodontist is pleased with my progres...

Re: My mouth look different after braces ( looks swollen )

Hmmm, my mouth looks different since getting wired, and I rather like the fuller look! Because of my backwards bite, I had a flat mouth. Now almost six months into my treatment my upper teeth are moving forward and my upper lip finally has some shape! You'll also bond with the Chapstick, since your ...

Re: Braces after 50 OMG!

I'm about three and a half months in with my braces. A most agressive and heavy wire was installed about a week ago and it felt like my teeth were about to be yanked out of my mouth (I have a deep overbite and my teeth are being moved up and out). A couple of days later the extreme discomfort border...

Re: It feels like someone punched me in the front teeth!

Yep! I'm on my third wire since getting braces in January. This one is very agressive to say the least. For two days after getting the new one installed I had problems finding a place to put my lower jaw, the wire had yanked my uppers far forward. (I have an overbite getting moved up and forward) Bu...

Interesting......triplets and their brother all with undersized dental arches. In the "Off Topic" section I posted a piece about the works of Dr Weston A Price and Dr. Francis Pottenger Jr. and epigenetics. Food for thought. Check it out.

It's Getting Agressive!

Three and a half months in and my treatment has turned agressive! The newest wire now looks like it could double as chicken fencing material. Up until now only one tooth was crying and sobbing with discomfort. Now it seems like the rest of my teeth have joined the chorus. But oh......the progress! t...

Wax, Wax!

Okay, I've got a "sticker" way in the back of my mouth. The wire is irritating the back of my mouth along with a hook for eventual "rubber bands". I used the wax provided by my orthodontist. It was sort of working until I drank a nice hot cup of tea. Guess what? The wax melted an...

Re: What was your primary reason for orthodontic treatment?

I got wired because my upper left central incisor was shifting backwards and to the right and in some photos it looked like I had NO front left central incisor! My lower teeth are also shifting badly and will be dealt with later this year. Here is a link to a "before" photo.....the one tha...
