Anybody else absolutely $#!¥ themselves when elastics snap?
Had lower jaw surgery almost two weeks ago. Just started to get a fork in my mouth the last couple of days. Never had elastics in before my op so all new to these rubber bands. First one snapped yesterday when eating my lunch. PING!!! Brain bounced off the roof of my skull in shock! Just now, both s...

72 hours post op. Swelling has gone into over-drive! Looking like Quagmire from Family Guy with these chipmunk cheeks. No change on the lip sensation though

Surgery done at last. Fingers crossed for numbness. (NHS)
So just had my surgery on Wednesday 5th Feb 2014, courtesy of the NHS. Checked into St. Johns Hospital, Livingston, Scotland at 8am sharp. They then left me on my bed for 6 1/2 hours before putting me under. I cannot explain how torturous this waiting period was! Surgery performed by Mr Duncan Campb...

Re: Bruxism/Jaw Clenching Post Surgery Worries...
I'm just hoping that any kind of pressure on the screws that attatch the titanium plates will result in extreme pain until the bone has healed. Otherwise the massive pressure at which i clench will surely cause problems. Does anybody know if they'll prescribe me with some kind of relaxant/sedative t...

Bruxism/Jaw Clenching Post Surgery Worries...
I'm rapidly approaching my surgery date. I'm having my lower jaw extended by about 10mm and a genie to boot (what is this technically called?). Anyway, i have a habit of jaw clenching when i sleep and occasionally when when i'm awake sub-consciously. How will this affect my recovery? I can't seem to...

Re: Double Jaw Surgery-- Not Sure if I want to Do It.
When the surgeon says 'most people make a 100% recovery', this is very different to saying 'almost 100% of people make a full recovery'. Remember when it comes to percentages, 51% is most. What his misleading statement means is that those people making 100% recovery are in the majority (i think the ...
