Re: How long was it (after BSSO) before your sensation retur

I am at 8 weeks today from BSSO. Within days I started feeling itchy, I even felt a very weird itch on my chin in the recovery room. Then on to tingly and zaps and went through a very painful stage at 4-5 weeks. Now I still have tingly numbness lower lip and chin, this area is getting smaller. Not a...

Re: DECEMBER 2014 BUDDIES!!

Yesterday was the day! Splint removed at the surgeons, and then straight to the orthodontist to get rid of the surgical wires. Yes the spikes / hooks are gone and I was able to brush and floss places that have not seen any cleaning in 6 weeks. I can not schedule a cleaning until the OK from the surg...

Re: DECEMBER 2014 BUDDIES!!

Nice to read you progress reports and see your photos. Not much to report still wondering what I am going to eat when I can chew my food again. Six more sleeps until the splint is removed. Yes the food on the face, stuck in the brackets or in my case with the lower lip and numb chin, if I do not wea...

Re: DECEMBER 2014 BUDDIES!!

Week 5, routine check up and mouth rinse and X-ray. Went  well and my next appointment would of been next Thursday. Yet I am booked with something that will take too much of my energy to do both. So I have to wait until the following Monday to get the splint that is wired on will be removed...

Re: Mouth rinse - my experience

X-ray and check up today, at the end of my second bottle I do not need to continue with the PERIDEX.
One less thing to do! And hopefully no more stain build up as at 5 weeks it is enough.

Re: DECEMBER 2014 BUDDIES!!

Hi LillyS If you are getting braces now, what is the estimated time in braces? There may be some flexibility, in timing of the surgery. I could of waited until I had a more convienent time. but it just seemed to get the surgery done sooner than later. Besides having braces off sooner than later is p...

Re: Mouth rinse - my experience

I am on my second bottle, and overheard someone further along advised to keep using this and then regular zero alcohol mouth wash in between, the morning after breakfast and the evening before bed.

Re: DECEMBER 2014 BUDDIES!!

Gutsygumshoe - good for you to get feeling back so soon. My x-ray was day 30, the same day I posted, that day I exceeded my energy reserves, going into the city I added 3 no 4 extra things on my to do list and now two days later I am still wiped out. LillyS good question, I think I have to wait anot...

Re: Mouth rinse - my experience

Day 30 BSSO

I asked the tech about the brands, she said the early mouth rinse was dealing with more sloughing of cells so that is why the thicker stain or my word scum. The PERIDEX does taste better. And when I can get my first cleaning all the stain should be removed.

Re: DECEMBER 2014 BUDDIES!!

Day 30 post BSSO I was to see the surgeon on Day 28, but the weather forecast was not good for driving so I moved my appointment for today. Overall feeling much better and the incision is now fine ending 4weeks antibiotics. Future plans: Surgeon follow up next week. Week six appointment at orthodont...

Re: Mouth rinse - my experience

The information on the bottle does say that staining can happen, especially on white fillings.
So far so good.

Re: DECEMBER 2014 BUDDIES!!

Ahh,
I remember in the recovery room that I felt an itch below my lower lip, and I would scratch it but it seemed to be on another reality. As scratching did not touch it.

Day 26 nothing new to report.

Re: DECEMBER 2014 BUDDIES!!

Day 26 BSSO Oimysizex sorry to hear about the delays. Something similar happened to me on 2008. For salivary gland cancer. It has inspired me to volunteer with the Patient/Family Advisory Council for the new cancer centre. Change takes time, and delays feel very very personal. Gutsygumshoe, thanks f...
