Re: Does anyone actually have traditional metal braces anymo

I have traditional all metal uppers and will have the same for my lowers when I get them in another month or so. For my case, my dentist said that metal ones would move my teeth faster and she's had fewer problems with metal braces. Since it wasn't really an issue for me, I just went with what she r...

Re: Day 3: no feeling in teeth...normal?

As far as I know (i.e. from my own experience), it's normal. I've had uppers for 2 months now and those teeth are still relatively 'numb'. Good times :D

Re: Wobbly teeth.

I've had my top braces on for 2 months now and I definitely get the feeling that my teeth aren't as solidly anchored as they used to be which is great since it means they're on the move (I assume!). In my case, I think the word crunchy, which a lot of people use here, is a more apt description of ho...

Re: Worried about nickel allergy

I have a nickel allergy and get contact dermatitis from just about everything :-(. That being said, I have full metal braces and have had no problems whatsoever with any sort of allergic reaction. So if you go that route you should probably be ok.

Re: Is baking soda really bad for braces?

I think you're ok if you don't overdo it. I'm using baking soda with my braces just once every week or 2. I was talking to my friend, who is a dental hygienist, and she said that should be fine. The only reason you have to be careful is that baking soda is abrasive and can damage your enamel if you ...

Re: Who applied your braces?

My dentist is doing my braces (my cases is not complicated) and so far she has done everything - applied the brackets, placed the wire, done the cleanings, etc. The assitant just hands her everything. I'm only 2 months in so I don't know if this will change or not.

Re: How often are your visits?

I'm only into my second month, but mine seem to be every 4 weeks at this point. I have traditional metal braces, just uppers at the moment.

Re: Braces on top only first?

I got my top braces on first, too. I got them on Jan 2/13 and hope to have my bottoms on in another month or 2. I have crowding on top (and bottom) and some arch development needs to happen before there is room for my bottom ones to go on. At least that's my understanding of things so far! :)
