Re: considering orthognathic surgery (photos included)

Thank you :)...the swelling you see is what I have been obsessing over as of lately, but my dentist thinks its because i've had SO many procedures in such a short amount of time. You shouldn't have an issue getting insurance approval...mine was approved, it just took longer than i would have liked....

Re: considering orthognathic surgery (photos included)

Hi, I am 5 months post op orthognathic surgery. I had a 10 mm overbite and I was extremely self conscious about it. I had braces at the age of 14 and relapsed. I am in the middle of complications (infection & lose plates, infected salivary gland, and root canal) all as a result of the surgery. ...

just be careful where you go. make sure the place is reputable, especially among those coming from industrialized countries.

Re: Thoughts please, suitable for NHS surgery?

never mind about my comment about you not stating your functional issues...
another question to yourself is, how often do you bite your tongue that you think advancing your mandible forward will correct it?
btw, i don't see how a advancing your mandible better helps you chew hard food.

Re: Thoughts please, suitable for NHS surgery?

how big was your overjet before camouflage? you haven't mentioned what your "functional issues" are in your post? Do you have a speech impediment? do you have abnormal wear on due to malocclusion? etc I understand you don't like your profile but I don't believe an intense surgery like orth...

Re: Need your opinions

i don't think you need surgery. your bites appears to be functional and you don't complain of any issues like speech impediment, tmj, eroded back teeth etc.
imo, undergoing cosmetic surgery is a retarded idea unless it is a serious issue. surgery isn't like making pancakes.
my summary-you seem fine

when i lived in san diego and had no insurance, i was quoted at around 1500 to remove to fully impacted wisdom teeth. i hopped across the border to SPAM

Re: Surgery Question or Straighten Teeth ...

it sounds like you have more of a cosmetic issue (which can be just as tough to deal with) than a functional one. palate expanders in adult does nothing but to
angle the tooth outwards. as an adult your palate is fused and will not expand unless surgically worked on

Re: Fixing an issue with a receding lower jaw

you need to include a lot more information. there's plenty of factors that influence necessity of surgery, risk, and recovery. younger you are, better the recovery. btw,it's good you didnt' have surgery when you were a "stubborn child" since children aren't fully growing and your result ma...
