Re: Damon system - Nonsurgical Crossbite Correction - 1yr up
Thanks! It's going really well. I have 12-18 months left (from the original estimate) But I'd guess 12 or less. My orthodontist said (and others have said this on this board too) 20% of the time gets 80% of progress, and 80% of time gets 20% of progress. The changes will be smaller in the coming mon...

+1 vote for interdental brushes. they're awesome.rowo wrote:I use the interdental christmas tree looking brushes. If I feel that my teeth aren't clean enough, I'll put some toothpaste on one of those and brush around the brackets and under the powerchains.

Re: Confess your orthodontic sins.
This thread is hilarious! I eat whatever I want to.. I only avoid foods the day or 2 after adjustments when I'm sore. I drink tea daily. I don't floss every day, I use interdental brushes instead My hygienist and orthodontist praise my oral hygiene all the time. I forget my elastics... a lot.... ann...

Damon system - Nonsurgical Crossbite Correction - 1yr update
I haven't posted in a while, but I wanted to post an update. I've had my braces for almost 1 year. Original Prognosis and details: - 32 years old when braces were installed - Damon Braces - 24-30 months - No SARPE - Crossbite correction with elastics. In less then a year I have had AMAZING palate wi...

Re: Damon System - early 30's
I am the worst updater-er ever. The braces have sort of just melted into my mouth, I don't feel them anymore :) I had my adjustment 2 weeks ago... I was sore for a day or so, nothing like the first week. And now back to not feeling much. Occasionally I'll have a sore tooth here and there, (I won't n...

Re: fixing crossbite (and open bite) with braces and elastic
Yes, I was recommended SARPE... Too much money, too invasive, too much time off work (2-3 weeks at home, the surgeon said!) So going the Damon braces + elastics route to get as good as a result as we can :) The hooks on the insides of my upper arch are annoying to my tongue, but pain is much less ge...

Re: Damon System - early 30's
Been a week! After that first initial burst of movement, I can tell it's slowed down a bit. Things are much less tender. I don't need ibuprofen around the clock anymore. My premolars on top that have the hooks for the elastics on the backs of them are almost numb-ish feeling ? Its a bit strange.. Ea...

Re: fixing crossbite (and open bite) with braces and elastic
I got my braces a week ago, and was given crossbite elastics on day 1. They are very uncomfortable, but I can tell they're working... Things are moving..

There's a thread in metal mouth called "avoiding flossing". After reading that thread I bought the floss fish and dentek braces clean flossers to try

I got elastics the first day too... (Parrot). They're also fairly weak. In cross bite correction configuration. It can't be totally unheard ofPatientPatient wrote:I was given elastics on my first day, is this unusual?
I think they are quite weak, Quail I think they're called.

My guess is French fries, since the poster is Aussie. I ate some "steak" fries over the weekend.. since they were bigger they were softer and not as crunchy.SunshineRay wrote:chips? Like potato chips?ajs604 wrote:Chips & Gravy. Also ice cream

Re: Damon System - early 30's
Ahhh the vicodin is why you are sleeping so much! I took some the day I got braced (same day as you and also from the extraction!) and went to sleep shortly after for a little bit. I havent taken any since because pain pills make me nauseous. Hmmm Maybe.. But 1 at like 8pm before bed wouldn't seem ...

Re: Damon System - early 30's
Day 5- Still a bit tender... still taking NSAIDs, and vicodin to sleep (vicodin likely not needed, I am not in that much pain. But the surgeon that extracted the pre-molars said feel free to take it at night for a week... so I am doing that.) The pain isn't awful, but eating is uncomfortable (I thin...
