Re: Frustrated and ready to quit

hang in there! At least your appliance isn't clearly visible! I have the opposite appliance (the prong things descend from the roof of my mouth). Just think about what a beautiful smile you'll have!
(and aren't you glad you have this forum to vent?!)

Re: Drinking tea/coffee with braces

P'shaw! enjoy the tea! I am a caffeine head who defies anyone to tell me to give up my morning cups of coffee (and late afternoon cup too). I just brush afterward to keep the staining to a minimum.

Re: What color ligs do you have on your ceramic braces?

hahaa...funny I should see this post today. I just got red (4 on each side) this morning. They look orange-y to me, but that's cool since orange is one of my favorite colors. I thought I'd stick with pearly/toothy colors, but am thinking I'll go for color from time to time.

Re: What Do You Like About Being You?

I like that I'm usually very positive and optimistic. I'm that person who chats with people in the supermarket or at the doctor's office. I also have a sense of humor that rears it's kooky head whenever possible. Oh, I am also a good mom, wife and friend. I hope it's because I'm positive, optimistic...

Re: braces and thumbsucking

Hi Anna, confession is good for the soul. AND I'll bet your ortho knows what's going on without your saying anything (just like the hairstylist knows when you colored your own hair). Anyway, as a reformed thumbsucker (my mom made me kick habit when I was 5 or 6), I am now the owner of that lovely ap...

Re: Spacers?

maybe your ortho is like mine...lulling you into a sense of comfort and then...BAM in go the spacers, then bands, then appliance. Although I think my ortho is very sweet and know she's doing a good job, I also think she sits in her office rubbing her hands as she concocts ways to "torture"...

Re: Combination Appliance/Invisalign Treatment

I do not envy your tongue crib. When my appliance was brand new, I felt like every other letter I tried to form would come to a dead stop at the roof of my mouth. My dentist cut some of the bulk off of mine, which helped a ton. Do you have any little kids? I find reading books to my son is very hel...

Fully wired (ceramics and appliance)

I've had my ceramics for about 6 weeks. Today I am fully loaded! I got my brackets and appliance. First, let me say that I was prepared. I saw photos of what it would look like. I did not know it would feel like my tongue was in jail! Yikes! I was a thumbsucker as a kid and a life-long lisper. I eve...

Re: Combination Appliance/Invisalign Treatment

I've had my appliances in for 2 weeks now and I still talk a bit lispy. At first it was so bad and embarrassing! I didn't do anything special, just tried to talk a lot. Thanks for the tip! I JUST got my appliance today (to stop the tongue thrusting business). It feels like my tongue is in jail! Ort...

a week before my next adjustment

and I can't find my wax! Is this normal or am I just imagining that my teeth have shifted a wee teeny tiny bit making my mouth more sensitive? Does anyone know where I can buy wax over the counter? I don't feel like driving 30 minutes to my ortho for a cheap fix. :-+

I agree that it's the waking up that's the "fum" part. I thought I was the only one to make funny faces in the morning. Good thing I'm the first one up in my house.

Dental visit and braces

Today I had to re-vist my dentist for a filling. She was impressed with the ortho's work (her referral) and pleased with my dental care (uh, yeah, brushing a million times a day and water-pik-ing). She numbed my mouth up GOOD and I was drooling mess by the time I left. Having a numb mouth and braces...

vaseline is wonderful! I also avoided sparkly lip gloss (boooo!) because I think it's extra drying because of the glittery particles. I like the balm all over idea...
