braces-induced tmj?

Yes, it is I, back from my extended absence. I hope you all are doing well. In braces 7 months...out of the blue left jaw is popping and clicking constantly. I have been chewing some rather tough foods. Once I got started it was hard to stop--all these foods I hadn't eaten in 6 months and I had to t...

Re: Anyone with assymetrical top front teeth (incisors?)

Thanks all for the replies. Regarding reshaping, it takes so much trust, especially with the two top front teeth. So I wish monkey bars had never been invented.

Re: Pain from hole in tooth or braces???

If your teeth were that sensitive when the new wire was applied, it could be the pressure from the braces causing that pain, in my opinion. I had the same experience the first time they changed the wire and removed a bracket: agony. I have not had that experience for subsequent adjustments. I always...

Re: Dissapointment

Can't agree more, Marigold, et al. Since ortho insurance often does not apply to adults, this contributes to the stigma of adults having braces, since it's obviously optional, discretionary, whatever. The health benefits of having braces do not stop when you are 18, or 48, or any age. What an irony ...

Re: What is your favorite brace food?

I remember those days. I got extremely skinny and extremely hungry! Couldn't bite down on anything for quite a while. Just be easy on yourself and stock up on what you CAN eat. It took a few months for me to be able to eat more normally. It was an ordeal but I survived on cream of wheat, cream soups...

Re: Anyone with assymetrical top front teeth (incisors?)

That is super-encouraging, thanks snowglobe and congratulations! I have the same thing going on with teeth that are turned looking pointy and weird. It's amazing what just a bit of a shift of the angle accomplishes as far as appearance and perception. It's like models, how they turn to the side to l...

Re: Waterpik help?

Yeah the cordless reviews are terrible on amazon. I am moving to uni soon so I think I may be able to get the ultra for then as I will have a washbasin in my room. It just costs a lot! I am having a hard time justifying the price to myself Believe me, it is worth it. You won't regret it. And for oc...

Re: Anyone with assymetrical top front teeth (incisors?)

I would rather leave them as is than get veneers. I have had messed up teeth for so long it doesn't bother me even though I am paying the big bucks for ortho. The benefits in my bite and how different my face looks and the straight teeth are all so great I'm not averse to some quirky anomalies at th...

Re: What was your deciding factor when choosing an orthodont

There's always a trade-off. You might get less personal attention at the most popular restaurant in town, and it might cost more.

Re: Anyone with assymetrical top front teeth (incisors?)

Thanks for your great replies, I can see this is a quandary for others in this position. Also thanks for not pointing out my misspelling of asymmetrical--rough day yesterday... scott: my situation sounds almost identical except I haven't had anything done to these teeth previously. one was br...

Anyone with assymetrical top front teeth (incisors?)

What are you going to do? Veneers? Reshaping? Leave as is?

Every silver lining has a cloud. Straighter teeth means the imperfections are more noticeable. :(

Re: Want braces, but fear is getting the best of me.

Kids041 caught just about everything you feel within the first couple of weeks - and I would add the idea that there was a point of no return where I could actually see myself having them removed within a certain timeframe if I couldn't get used to them. So glad I stuck it out because what is missi...
