There are months that are no big deal....and others that hurt like heck. During my whole treatment there were only 2 months that were very difficult and I'd say just a few that were annoying. i don't know if you can go by cost...but you can go by references and second opinions.

i would never smile in pictures...well not with any part of my mouth opened. when i got braces and things straightened out i started smiling.

I had 3 taken, but one was done to match one that was removed years ago....so the 4 balanced out.

I don't know if you have this level of worry...
I talked to my doctor about this same anxiety when I was going for braces and asked him for help. He was nice enough to prescribe xanax for me. I only used it when panic mode seemed inevitable.

I agree, it depends on the doctor...but most dental surgeons are pretty good. I had 3 removed for braces. I had Novocain and gas. When he started it was all a circular motion, round and round he went and the gas just amplified it, what an experience...no pain just a whirling feeling. It was the best...
