Re: Anything you miss about braces?
I miss the regular appointments at my ortho when I could take 20 mins to just concentrate on me. I know it sounds selfish but with being a manager, father, husband etc. it leaves little time for me but these appointments gave me that time. I also miss the confidence braces gave me and the way so man...

Re: I'm going to get braces this year!
Hi everyone, sorry for the long period of silence, I've been poor at providing updates so will try and catch up now. It's been 18 months since I had my braces removed (where has the time gone?) and still wear my retainers every night just to make sure everything stays in place. My second upper Hawle...

Re: Had my final adjustment, but a space returned
I think most people on this forum will advise you to make sure you are absolutely happy with the result before getting your braces removed. Small spaces can be closed quite easily whilst your braces are on but can be really annoying to you after they are removed if you do nothing about it. Retainers...

Re: Did anyone in your family get braces after you?
My wife is in the early stages of looking at getting braces. She has had her first consultation and is awaiting some other minor dental work before proceeding. My daughter is also on yearly follow-ups and will probably be getting braces in a couple of years time.

Re: Is there a way to 'speed up' power chains?
From what I have read, there is little evidence at the moment that devices like Acceledent speed up the process so tread cautiously. Orthodontics takes time and there are plenty of good reasons why going to fast isn't the best option.

Re: I'm going to get braces this year!
Hi everyone, sorry for the long period of absence. It's been a crazy few months with a lot of travel and new opportunities to explore. There are so many new posts to read and contribute to so it might take me a while to catch up! I had my penultimate retainer check in December and all was well. My t...

Re: Has Your Experience Peaked Your Interest?
Yes, I can certainly relate to this. I would love to work in orthodontics in some capacity as I find this topic so fascinating but on looking into this, realised I was probably too old to get started on 8 years of training and unlikely to be able to compete with the bright 18 year olds with impressi...

Re: my tongue hurts!!!
Hi, if it's a sharp piece of the retainer material I would head back to your ortho for it to be trimmed. Is that what you are describing?

Re: Anyone have a bonded retainer AND a hawley?
My first one felt like it was moving the teeth ever so slightly and in a good way as my bite felt so much tighter and together. This new Hawley doesn't do that which I don't know if it is a good or bad thing. The permanent retainer will stop much movement but I think the tightness of the Hawley push...

Thank you, that's really kind of you to say. I hope normal service resumes soon, there's a few dark clouds hanging over me at the moment.tillybrace wrote:Come on you've been mr positive/motivator through the whole thing, don't let the final hurdle beat you.

Re: Anyone have a bonded retainer AND a hawley?
I have three different types, fixed to the front six teeth, upper and lower Hawley's and Essix as well. They all serve different purposes and I'm not taking any chances!

I don't think I could have kept my on any longer but know what you mean.oldfart wrote:The only reason why I wanted mine off when I got them off was due to the amount of dental work I needed to get done. I would have preferred to keep mine on longer also.
