I am one of the few who has some permanent numbness and this is completely true, it waas well worth it and I would do it all again in a heart beat even knowing what I know now.

I'm currently waiting for an op date for this (plus the removal of all my mandible plates and wire).

Re: Were you physically sick after your jaw op?

I felt VERY nauseous as I came round, I mumbled something about feeling sick and was instantly given IV anti-emetics and that was that, no more problems. Do let the people looking after you know beforehand that you're worried about being sick after the surgery, it's very common but if they can be pr...

Re: My new underbite :(

It's hard when orthodontics make things worse before surgery can make it better. You're already very beautiful though, I think you're going to have an amazing result :)

I think you have a very attractive profile, go with your ortho's advice, they're the expert!

Re: Uk Patients

I had a bi-max osteotomy and genio in 2006 in the UK (Edinburgh). I'm happy to answer any questions (through the forum or PM) if anyone has any specific concerns :)

Re: Need your opinions

I'm not sure that any of us are qualified to make a diagnosis over the internet! Even if there are orthos/oral-maxillo facial specialists on the forum they'd surely want to take a proper look rather than diagnose based on a few photos. In my unprofessional opinion your lower face has a nice shape an...

Re: Loose, saggy skin after bimax surgery 3months post

Not trying to pry, but would you be willing to post before/after photos so we can understand what you're describing? Yes, pictures would be really helpful. They could just be partial ones if you're concerned about showing full facial pics on the internet (totally understandable!). I'm not sure what...

Re: Is this a bad result?

It's really hard to comment without seeing a) pre-op pictures, b) your bite and c) knowing what you had done. From what I can see though your teeth seem to be very nice and there's certainly nothing wrong with your appearance.

Re: Jaw Surgery in the UK (London)

I paid in the region of £9-10k for a double jaw + genio in 2006. You should be able to get a referral in the usual way, though presumably you could make a request to be referred to a specific surgeon if you have a preference.

Mine had lovely teeth, it's a few years ago now but if I remember correctly she did tell me that she'd had braces.

Re: To anybody who's already had jaw surgery...

I wish I'd known how depressed I'd feel in the weeks and monthss afterwards but rest eassured that this is completely normal and WILL eventually pass. Getting used to your new face and teeth is quite a shock but it will be worth it. I only wish I'd done it sooner.
