Re: UK Fastbraces - Male aged 31 - now fitted - gulp!!!

Hi Everyone, I'm sure I'm not alone in feeling quite guilty about my lack of recent updates. I guess as treatment progresses and you become more and more used to having braces on your teeth, the need for reassurance becomes less. That's not to say I haven't been keeping up to date with each of your ...

Re: UK Fastbraces - Male aged 31 - now fitted - gulp!!!

Hi bluey and everyone else, Today I'm really pleased to show off my latest picture updates. I had new ligs fitted yesterday, which I am totally delighted with! Going for colour is DEFINITELY the way forward! But the best bit of my appointment was the look on ortho's face when he looked in my gob. He...

Re: UK Fastbraces - Male aged 31 - now fitted - gulp!!!

Hi blueribbon, So I guess that makes 2 of us in the UK with Fastbraces then! lol. I literally haven't come across a single other person with Fastbraces - until now! So thanks for posting a reply. We're clearly very exclusive! I've had my Fastbraces on for almost exactly 2 months now, and so far so g...

Re: UK Fastbraces - Male aged 31 - now fitted - gulp!!!

Hmmmm, I'm not sure I like the sound of quick ligs! There's already enough metal in my mouth to get airport security guards excited when I go through the metal detector. And twisted wires on the outside of my teeth??? Surely this is just asking for ulcer hell! But hey, what do I know? I'm still new ...

Re: UK Fastbraces - Male aged 31 - now fitted - gulp!!!

Thankfully, no pain during the adjustment - despite the ortho being quite heavy handed at times! :-= I could imagine it really hurting if my teeth were going through one of their sensitive phases (which come and go quite randomly I find)! I think you're on the money with blue ligs (for me anyway). I...

Re: UK Fastbraces - Male aged 31 - now fitted - gulp!!!

Hi all, No worries for the thread jacking! lol. It's great to hear from you all, regardless of whether the conversation is about braces, or accents, or anything else. BTW, I just attempted an Irish/Spanish accent. The best I could come up with was saying 'potato' in a Spanish accent, or 'paella' in ...

Re: UK Fastbraces - Male aged 31 - now fitted - gulp!!!

So, after a month of being in Fastbraces, during which time I've encountered a fair (but not unbearable) amount of sensitivity and the occasional mouth ulcer (including a couple of particularly horrible ones on the gums below my lips), I can happily say that I am now over the trauma and embarrassmen...

Re: UK Fastbraces - Male aged 31 - now fitted - gulp!!!

Thanks Tobilei. Funnily enough, I had somewhat of a break through today. After a really nice conversation with a colleague (where I just let my braces out on show) I'm now feeling loads better about them. I'm quickly learning that overcoming the mind games that I've been playing with myself is more ...

Re: Braces on Short Rooted Teeth

Apparently all my premolars have shortened roots, so my orthodontist is skipping over those entirely. I hope it doesn't leave my arches looking lopsided when everything is finished.

Re: Rebraced? whats the shortest time you've had between bra

Hey. Sorry to hear about your woe. For me, the time between braces is 13 years. Although if I had been a little braver / richer, I'd have started my second round of treatment a lot sooner.

Good luck!

Re: Elastics Dilemma

I'd be interested to hear other's thoughts on this too. I was told to wear my elastics "as much as possible". So on day one, I wore them constantly, which was easy because I was out of the office and hidden away at home. Then over the weekend, we had friends round so I only wore them at ni...

Re: Musings on a year in braces

A great post! Really made me chuckle. It's funny how something as simple as reality can make you laugh! I'm on day 5 of my treatment, with Fastbraces on both my top and bottom arch. It seems like I have a loooong road ahead. My orthodontist reckons I'll have them on for about a year, which doesn't s...
