I went in to work because I got braces done on the same day as consultation. I was fine.... just a little bit sore. The real tenderness/pain didn't start till that evening. Good luck!

Get consults with different orthodontists until you feel comfortable. I put it off for so long that today... when I decided I was talking to the correct ortho... I went ahead and got braces same day. It will be worth it! Good luck!
