Yes they did remove 2 teeth and the next step in my process(I only have one more year to go) is to pull my front teeth back. Your front teeth do not have to tilt back. I have a screw in front of my mouth in the top gum that pulls my teeth out so this will not happen. It's called a Temporary Ancorage...

I was 42 when my braces went on. When I see another adult we immediately have a topic for conversation. It's like we both are in the "Club". I thought the braces would be a big turn off for guys. I was totaly getting hit on by a guy and I thought "when I smile this guy is gonna run&qu...

I have braces that ARE fixing my huge overbite. I was told about ten years ago I needed to have my jaw broken to fix my overbite. That freaked me out so I RAN from the orthodontist. I have one more year to go and for the first time in my life my teeth touch. Keep looking for another ortho

I was lucky as my ortho would not pull my teeth until I had the braces on. The wires and stuff hide the gaps. I had mine pulled around Halloween so I made jokes about my Jack-O-Lantern look. Yes, you are now committed-there is no turning back. Once I got so frustrated that I was going to call the or...

The choppers are doing great! I am over 1/2 way to getting these things removed. My teeth are straightened out and they are working on bite correction which I am told is the most difficult part. I have a huge honkin overbite they are correcting. I have gaps where they are moving teeth back to correc...

Update on worst adjustment ever

The temporary implants are in as of Friday 3/10/06! They are not really that bad. Somewhat Frankensteinlike, but not that bad. When I can get my fiance' to photograph them I will post some pics. I discussed the tech from HELL with my ortho when I saw her at the "implant service" and she ap...

Thanks for all your support! I am going to have a talk with the ortho this week. I am going to assert myself as an adult and ask the next time "what are you going to do?" I guess I am mad at myself for not speaking up then. As far the door opening question, sometimes when I brush I feel th...

Worst Adjustment EVER!

I am now 6 months into my 2 1/2 year treatment. Just when I think everything is going well, I have an adjustment from HELL! I went in today and my usual tech is not there-she was not there last time so I think she quit. I had the "head" chick. She called the new tech over so she could undo...

Please COMPLAIN to your Ortho. This should not be happening! This is a service you are paying for and have the right to be treated with dignity!!! They show a complete lack of professionalism. My ortho would not stand for it. I have called my ortho crying and they listened and let me cry, while tryi...

I would suggest only waxed floss. In the begining I tried the unwaxed and had pieces of the floss stuck in my brackets/wires. Just keep trying as it is VERY important to floss with braces. One day you will magically find that the floss goes in between easily-this is know a "flossing epiphany&qu...

I have the same problem and was told I would have to wear elastics to correct my huge honkin overbite. My "time" was to be 36 months. Now my ortho is trying something very new. I am having temporary dental implants(they look like screws) implanted next week. My time is supposed to be "...

Bride in Braces

I just got engaged and have 2 more years to go on my ortho treatment. I am going to wait it out and have the braces off (and paid for) before I walk down the aisle. BTW I am 43. My ortho said I could have the wires removed for the wedding, but I really want them done and off before the wedding. Anyo...

I was at my Fiance's house and his 13 year old was having a party. One of the parents dropping her kid off came to the front door and asked if any adults were home. I smiled and said "yes, me". She then asked again ARE ANY ADULTS HOME??. It took me a while to realize she was thinking I was...

It sounds like your braces have only been on a little while. The first 2 wires I got were very flexible and would move whenever I ate something hot or cold. Once you move up to a rigid stainless steel wire this all goes away.
