Re: Feeling discouraged

Every time I look at my teeth I feel sad. I'm so used to having straight nice teeth and now they look so terrible and even less white. :( It's to the point where I honestly regret doing this. I no longer think it's worth it. 2 years in braces and surgery, crooked teeth, pain, and $25,000 all up to c...

Feeling discouraged

My teeth were straight-ish before I got braces. I was perfectly happy with my teeth, just not my underbite. And now my braces are starting to make gaps appear in my teeth and some of my teeth are overlapping and they look much worse and less straight with braces on. I'm struggling to stay positive a...

Re: Do teeth generally look worse before looking better?

The day after I got my braces on, two of my bottom front teeth began to overlap.

Today, 4 days after I got them, they're not longer overlapping. However my top two front teeth are now beginning to have a gap between them.

:P Braces do crazy things. I guess we just have to be patient.

Re: Changes to facial features

I had very sunken in cheeks and very defined cheek bones (which I actually liked quite a lot).

I know have more chubby, full cheeks. A bit like a chipmunk. I've only had my braces for a few days but it has completely changed my bite and I think that's changed my face shape.

Re: Very dry mouth and lips.

Paw paw has been the only thing that's worked for me! And self control. When my lips get try, I tend to bite the dry skin off or lick them even though I know I shouldn't. If you can get something to moisturise your lips at the same time as eliminating habits that will dry your lips out, they should ...

Re: Weight & Braces

I had spacers for a week and I've had braces for about 4 days now I think and I've lost 3kg. I'm vegan and combining this with only being able to eat soft foods has not been easy. Yes, I can have soy yoghurt and vegan soup but the availability of these when I'm just out and want food is low so I oft...

Re: Braces Noob

I'll have to give that a try because it's almost unbearable! I cringe at the thought of eating because it hurts so much to have sharp wires digging into my cheek while I do. I have to keep the wax in while I eat and that really isn't very enjoyable. Unfortunately I don't see my orthodontist for anot...

Re: Braces Noob

It's not the brackets that hurt my mouth, it's the wire at the back! I don't understand how something as soft as my mouth will ever get used to that especially since even when I just touch that wire with my finger, it can make it bleed and I'd think the skin on my fingers is relatively rough!! :( Bu...

Braces Noob

Hi guys, I'm Tara. I'm a uni student, majoring in philosophy. 8) I got my braces 3 days ago after having spacers for a week. My mouth is torn up and I haven't had a good meal for a week and a half (and on top of that I have people constantly pinching my cheeks and saying 'aww'). I'm starting to get ...
