Re: Fixed plastic retainer (Essix?) and bonded retainer quer

Ooh yes, apologies.
I meant, does the Essix retainer not interfere with the fixed retainer?

Hmm, so seems this is possibly an unusual way to proceed. I will see what they say, and report back.

Thanks for the replies.

Fixed plastic retainer (Essix?) and bonded retainer query

Hello everyone. I am almost two weeks away from having my braces removed. Very excited! I have been told I will have the braces removed tuesday, then go back the next day for a clear plastic retainer. I am assuming this is the Essix I hear a lot of you referring to. Then two weeks later I go back to...

Re: Braced one week today and my bite feels "off"?

Yes, I definitely noticed a bite difference very early on. Maybe not the first week, but within the first few. I think as the mouth is so sensitive, you really notice even the slightest shift, especially in those first few weeks, when lets be honest, it all feels very strange! My ortho does ask me t...

Another BUMP!

I'm the same. Seeing slow progress on closing my open bite. Being very patient.... not cool to read that it may all undo so easily!

Re: Elastics pressure.

Yeah, is a bit of a strange one. I guess we're all different and have different pain thresholds etc etc. Just thought I'd post and see if anyone else had it too. This message board has been a great help to me. When you're a little worried, to be able to search and find people experiencing similar th...

Elastics pressure.

I'm almost 2 months into my Damon treatment. I have quite a large open bite on my left side, estimated treatment time, 9-18 months. I have been wearing elastics from day 1. I had quails for the first month, then after 5 weeks I was moved onto dolphin ones, in a slightly different position. Last coup...

Re: Brushing and Flossing

Still cannot find a chemist that stocks these in the UK. But, I managed to find a stockist on Amazon UK, I think they come from somewhere in Europe, but were delivered to me in less than a week. I can really recommend these for speeding up your floss routine. They slide up in-between the wire and th...

Argh, so sorry, just re read that you've had yours on for a month.
Ignore my comment, it probably doesn't help. I guess everyone's case is totally different.

Re: My mouth look different after braces ( looks swollen )

Hello Maria, I've had my braces just over a week now and my lips have calmed down. Obviously I've not seen you before, so cannot really comment on whether you look different, but from my experience swelling around the mouth is totally normal. All those foreign objects in your mouth, it's gonna compl...

Re: Wearing elastic rubber bands - I like it - Weird?

I was given elastics on my first day, is this unusual?
I think they are quite weak, Quail I think they're called.

Re: Brushing and Flossing

I found that too, for the first few days, very painful to try and floss. Instead, I found the really thin teepee brushes worked well in the places I have small gaps, as I didn't need to try and force the floss against the teeth. Just used a teepee brush at the top, along the gum line. I think day 5/...
