Re: Advice from athletes

@Bracket, GREAT news about your condition keeping up! I'm doing quite well. My exposed nerves healed up and I'm not on any pain killers, even Aleve, now (I'd probably still be taking Aleve occasionally but, while we're not quite trying for a baby yet, we're not not trying so I don't want to take any...

Re: Advice from athletes

Good job on not using narcotics!! I have not been as good at that. I get very sleepy and cranky when I'm in pain so, while I really don't need any narcotics today, I have stuff I have to do so I took a half dose. The pain I was feeling yesterday was from an exposed nerve. The doctor told me to take...

Re: Advice from athletes

@Bracket - How is your recovery going? I'm doing really well. I think my nutrition and rest has been very good. I've been spending some time on my indoor trainer since the weekend. Taking it super easy but it's nice to get my legs moving. I have a dr appt on Thursday so I'll talk to him about upping...

Re: Post-operative diet help

I had a Lefort 1 on the 25th. I've been pleased with how little weight I've lost. I've been having a protein drink every morning - fresh pressed veggie juice (I prefer a beet blend), fresh pressed almond milk, a scoop of protein powder (I've been using RAW brand, which might be good for you since it...

Re: July 2013 Buddies

I'm very sorry to hear that ReoSity. I'm sure you're using a jaw bra, but if you're not already using an ice eye maks, try to get one of those. My Dr. said the ice wasn't as important after the first 48 hours, but maybe it will help with your abnormal swelling and, at the very least, significantly l...

Re: July 2013 Buddies

Breathe Right strips and a humidifier helped me a lot with that, too. Good luck. Also, my surgeon told me I could blow my nose lightly. The literature they sent me home with strongly said not to, so definitely ask first. While that was unproductive the first day or two, it finally worked for me and ...

Re: July 2013 Buddies

I'm sorry Yellowhat! Give it some time. As you heal and start to feel better physically, you'll feel better mentally and not notice so much the little things that are getting you down. Just show off your new pretty smile as much as possible! :) I don't expect to look any different than I did. I aske...

Re: July 2013 Buddies

I discovered yesterday that I have bad sores all inside my top lip from my lip swelling against my braces. I had been wondering why I felt pain from the incision site so low. This might not be something for the rest of you to worry about - I got my top braces on only 2 weeks before surgery so my mou...

Can you guys put wax on the hooks? I only had 8 and only overnight but they said I could put wax on if they were bothering me.

Best of luck!! Keep positive and keep us posted!

Re: July 2013 Buddies

Excuse errors. On drugs and sending from phone. I only had upper. Lefort 1. They also drilled some holes in lower to aid in orthodontics but no movement down there. I'm scared of general anesthesia too so you're not alone. I got to meet the anesthesiologist yesterday which made me feel better. He wa...

Re: July 2013 Buddies

Hi Everyone. I had my surgery yesterday at 11:30. I'm recovering at home now. I spent the night in a recovery center, where I had compression booties for circulation, oxygen, and real (not hospital) food. It was nice but I hated the IV and had a lot of trouble sleeping so I'm glad to be home. Luckil...

Re: July 2013 Buddies

I'm scheduled officially now. July 26th. Dr. Schendel in the operation suite at the office and then one night at a recovery center for pain management and nifty healing things like compression booties and oxygen.
