Any positive results from BICUSPID EXTRACTIONS (PREMOLARS)??

Hi Im 19 and I have previously had non extraction braces with little success. I am due to get orthodontic treatment in september for my protruding front (4mm overjet) and lower teeth . I have lip incompetence (7/8mm) when my lips are at rest. My profile is ok in my opinion. But i really want to fix ...

Palate expansion is preferable to extractions
I have quite a small face. I dont have much width though. Would lefort 1 reduce my facial height.

Re: Jaw surgury/tooth extraction? Incompetent lips 4mm overj

I don't know if this goes for everybody, but during my consults with a few surgeons, it was explained to me that my upper lip incompetence might not get much better after surgery. I have an 8-9mm overjet, gummy smile, and narrow arches. They don't really want to move my upper jaw forward anymore si...

Re: Jaw surgury/tooth extraction? Incompetent lips 4mm overj

I have a similar problem, although perhaps more severe (my lips barely come together when straining - 15 mm gap at rest). I had teeth removed and braces as a teenager. This eliminated my overjet but did little to nothing for my lip incompetence. Accordingly, I still breathe through my mouth exclusi...

Re: New Member. jaw surgury v tooth extration.

Your profile looks fine to me. I can't see any lower jaw recession. It looks like you might have a long face but really I can't tell, could be the angle - but it often goes hand in hand with mouth breathing. 4mm of overjet, however, is not a lot. I guess you're considering a Le Fort 1? NHS tend to ...

New Member. jaw surgury v tooth extration.

Hi am a 19 year old female with a 4mm overjet i think( measured it myself) and incompetent lips. I seem to strain my chin when i close my mouth. This causes small wrinkles to form on my chin. I live in england and i may be able to get jaw surgury under the nhs. However, is surgury too drastic a meas...

Re: WOOOOHOOOO!!!

Will you be having jaw surgury? Why? Is it for an overbite?

Anyway congrats to you. Hope it all goes well :)
