Post-surgical jaw movement

Hi, I had upper jaw surgery a little over a month ago and just got the bands removed on tuesday. I have been excited about being able to open my mouth but recently noticed that when I close my mouth my teeth on top are moving slightly. I opened and closed my mouth in front of my surgeon and he didn'...

Re: Were you physically sick after your jaw op?

I got very sick after surgery. I don't want to be too graphic or anything but I was sick for like 12 hours immediately after surgery, they had to cut the elastics and everything. It wasn't pleasant but not nearly as bad as it sounds, the nurses were very nice about it and between the anesthesia and ...

Re: New to Braces

Congrats! For the next few days obviously avoid hard to chew foods, and remember dental wax :) One of the most useful things to have are those little dental picks something like the dentek scrub brushes. Its a pain to carry a toothbrush everywhere but these are small and good for getting stuff out o...

Re: July 2013 Buddies

Congestion has definitely been one of the worst problems for my recovery, but unless you have other problems it should clear up almost completely in the next week or so and after that everything feels much easier or at least it did for me :)

Re: ewww

Try light grey, it does look a little darker than the clear and not as good initially but they keep their color. I had the clear ligs the first couple times, but I enjoy coffee way too much to keep them in good condition for long. The metal ties also look better, but at least in my case, they were o...

Re: July 2013 Buddies

Hi! I had my surgery a week ago today, a 3 piece lefort one on top. It went pretty well except the oxygen tube was moved post-op and so now I'm also recovering form a septoplasty which makes things significantly less fun :( But other than that I'm feeling great and ready for these bands to start com...

Re: is it possible that my expander will break my jaw?

Hello! I started my orthodontic treatment about two years ago when I was 18 and needed my upper palette expanded. My orthodontist told me that it would have about a fifty-fifty shot at working if we tried to proceed without surgery because of my age. I also had a bit of an underbite so I went with s...

Post-operative diet help

Hello! I had a lefort 1 upper jaw surgery done 1 week ago and everything has been going fairly well as far as healing goes, however I don't think I am eating enough. The first few days I ate a lot of soups and smoothies and such but have been having a problem stomaching anything with milk in it whic...
