Re: Does this sound right to you? Dentist Office Says Cleanings While In Braces Not Covered By Insurance
Went in early this morning the the dental office and found out that they currently have no office manager. She left 3 weeks ago. I was able to get a printout of all my charges and payments for the last 2 years (since I've been in braces) and got the name of the Regional Manager for the offices in th...

Re: Does this sound right to you? Dentist Office Says Cleanings While In Braces Not Covered By Insurance
Thanks for everybody's feedback. I'm going in person tomorrow and asking to talk to the office manager and going to request that she call Cigna right there with me there too to get this straightened out. You've all been very helpful confirming my suspicions.

Does this sound right to you? Dentist Office Says Cleanings While In Braces Not Covered By Insurance
I have regular dental insurance in the US through work. We have coverage for 2 free dental cleanings a year. I just found out that my dentist office hasn't been submitting any of my cleanings to my insurance since I've been in braces for the last 2 years. They have been charging my account each time...

Re: Closing extraction gaps create gaps between other teeth
Didn't you have extractions because your teeth were crowed? I got extractions because my bottom teeth were a little crowded on the bottom but not horribly so -- It was really only those 2 pesky bicuspids that were crowding. But in order to move my lower jaw forward to fix my overbite with jaw surge...

Closing extraction gaps create gaps between other teeth?
I had both my premolars extracted about a month ago on the bottom of my mouth (the ones right next to the bottom canines). I have power chains across the gaps now. I can't figure out if they will bring the molars forward or the canines back or both to close the gap? Also, how in the world is my orth...

Firefinder,
What a great idea about using rubberbands to help keep my mouth closed at night. At my next appointment, I'll ask my orthodontist about that.

Re: Anyone using a sleep apnea CPAP machine with braces?
The CPAP was life changing for us both. He can't sleep without it now and I definitely can't sleep next to him without it anymore. I don't know how I lived before with him snoring full out for 30 something years. He has sleep apnea bad and used to wake up feeling tired, headachy, not refreshed. Tha...

Re: Anyone using a sleep apnea CPAP machine with braces?
Ouch! No, don't use one myself, but hubby does so I know how they are. You might try getting some sort of silicone mouth guard for protection for your lips. Yes, I saw some at DentaKit.com that might work, maybe one of the ones that musicians with braces wear. I'll order a couple to see if they wor...

Anyone using a sleep apnea CPAP machine with braces?
I was recently diagnosed with sleep apnea and I now am the proud user of a CPAP machine which I use nightly with a face mask when I sleep (yes, I know, very attractive) to keep my airway open while I sleep. I also recently got braces and when I use my CPAP face mask it presses on my braces and my li...

Re: Teeth Dreams
I think Freud had a whole group of theory on dreams about teeth and teeth falling out. But Freud never had to deal with adult braces did he?

Re: Teeth Dreams
So funny. I have been having teeth dreams as well. And in mine, my front teeth start falling out and I have to walk around embarrassed with no front top or bottom teeth. I think its because I'm absolutely obsessed about my teeth and braces. I'm trying to forget I have them on, but every time I try t...

Re: Help -- Molar Band Edges Are Shredding My Tongue
[quote="JumpTheDitch"]You could let your ortho know that the cleats are causing you trouble; if they're not going to be utilised in your treatment, your ortho might be willing to either grind them down, bend them flat(ish), or apply adhesive to smooth them over. If they're going to be used...

Re: Help -- Molar Band Edges Are Shredding My Tongue
Timetoshine, it does help to know there are others out there going through the same thing. How long did it take your tongue to get used to them. I'm afraid mine never will because they feel so sharp, even when I rub my fingers against them to check. I will definitely ask about the blue material when...

Help -- Molar Band Edges Are Shredding My Tongue
I have 4 molar bands on right now,and I'm five days into braces. The bottom 2 molar bands are making mincemeat of my tongue. Surprisingly, it's not the lingual hooks that are the problem, but instead, it seems to be the top and bottom edges of the band that are acting like little razor blades. My to...

Re: Good foods for healing broken bones?
[quote="Changes"]Hi everyone A week post lower jaw surgery and can really feel it in my bones! This is making me think - what should we be eating, so they grow back and heal properly. There is a topic already about soft foods, but was wondering more specifically what things should we eat t...
