Re: Lip Incompetence at week 5?

At 4 1/2 weeks, my lips don't close well. I think a lot of it is the swelling in my upper lip (I hope). It's really bad for sleeping. My mouth gets so dry!

Re: 3 more weeks with the splint... *sigh*

Dude... I feel your pain. I was told from the jump that I'd have the splint for 6 weeks. At a little over week 4, I'm ready to yank it out myself. :-+ My splint removal day is 29 October at 10 a.m. with a follow up with the orthodontist at 1 pm. Yay! No more surgery hooks! I cannot wait! I'm using t...

Re: 5th day post-op and a drooly mess

Thanks, will try those ideas. I'm going to watch the spicy though. I had refried beans thinned with some green chili sauce and ended up with the worst heartburn of my life. I've never had a problem with spicy food before, but WOW, was that meal not worth it. I had some miso soup today that was reall...

Re: What is double jaw surgery like one week post-op?

See my day 5 post from yesterday... I highly recommend against it. I can't concentrate well enough to read, and the idea of trying to study is ridiculous. I think I'm very fit and healthy, and I also think I'm healing pretty quickly, but the thought of having to go back to work in another week is da...

5th day post-op and a drooly mess

Hi! My 3 piece LeFort I and BSSO to fix my open bite and overbite was on Wednesday Sept 17, and what an interesting five days it has been. Lucky for me, I was not banded shut, just have 1 rubber band each side. The hospital wasn't bad, after I figured out to mix my boost clear with tea to cut the ac...

Re: Soft foods post-surgery

Does the Boost Plus taste ok? I've been loading up on meal replacement drinks, but there are so many different brands. I heard good things about the Special K protein shakes, too.

Re: Post Surgery Eating

Hmm, good idea. It works for frosting, so I'd think as long as the puree is thin enough that the bag wouldn't split. I might have to give it a shot.

Re: Advice from athletes

I keep getting sideways looks from the ortho surgery team when I tell them I have a marathon planned for Feb 2nd. My surgery date is 18 September, so I figure as good a condition as I'm in now, I should be able to pick up after surgery after my 6 weeks of no running, and train. I also have a little ...

Re: Hello! New here!

The three piece lefort 1 is where they break my top jaw, and they do it in three pieces to expand the width (and because my front four teeth aren't in line with the rest).

Me! I'm scheduled for Sept 18th. 3 piece lefort 1 and BSSO. I see it's after your surgery date, so I hope it went well and you'll post how you're recovering. :)

Hello! New here!

Hi all! I've been lurking here and there, but now that I have a surgery date I'm de-lurking. :D I'm going to have a three piece lefort 1 with 2mm impaction on upper jaw, and BSOO on the lower jaw to advance it forward 6-7mm. The big day is September 18th! I'm very excited, but also sooo nervous. The...
