Re: November 2013 Surgery Buddies
Thanks for the help kimnmoody. My movement is a bit more than the typical loose teeth from braces. I was very noticeable when i would bite down. The ortho put bands on to pull my bottom teeth back which has fixed the problem of my upper teeth being pushed out. Now when i bite my left side hits first...

Re: November 2013 Surgery Buddies
I think I can eat in a couple weeks. That is when my splint is getting removed. Hopefully I can get these braces off in a few months and be done with all this.
Does heating pads help. I know ice does not help with swelling after a certain time, but I do find it soothing.

Re: November 2013 Surgery Buddies
Hope everyone is doing well. I have to be at the hospital at 6:00am on monday. I'm happy that they decided to just do the upper jaw. My ortho thinks they should do a double, but the doctor said the lower is not that bad and i run the risk of sleep apnea because I have a narrow trachea. I just hope m...

Re: November 2013 Surgery Buddies
I found out that I will only have the upper jaw advanced. They said about 8mm so I how that works out. It seems like a lot, but I trust the doctors I have. I'm glad that its upper only for a lot of reasons. One of which is that the recovery should be quicker and easier. Any suggestions on post op me...

Re: November 2013 Surgery Buddies
I was wondering how everyone is doing with regards to exercise post op. I wanted to get walking around the block asap and was wondering how long after surgery until you could do light activity.
Also how long do we wear that splint? I'm going in next monday and got the jitters a little today.

Re: November 2013 Surgery Buddies
I just got back from doing my pre-op work up. It took 3 hours. I had measurements, molds, and x-rays done. I am scheduled for a double jaw surgery, but the surgeon said I could just have the upper moved forward. If I just have the upper it would be moved about 8mm forward and 2 mm left. If I had dou...

Re: November 2013 Surgery Buddies
Alicia110613: That is the thing that is worrying me. My ortho said I need double jaw surgery. My surgeon said he can only do upper, because If he moves the lower back it looks like I might have a problem with sleep apnea. I'm just concerned about the midline. I have an appointment tomorrow with the ...

Re: November 2013 Surgery Buddies
Glad to hear everyone is doing well. I have to go in Friday for my x-rays and pre-op stuff. I'm a little ticked off because my center line was fine until one of the brackets fell of my lower tooth and everything moved. Now my bottom midline is off my 2-3 mm. The surgeon said he will move the upper j...
