Re: Is my palate VERY narrow? -anyone else with a narrow pal

I was told at my initial consultation that only surgery would give me the perfect smile. My overjet caused by a recessive lower jaw being the main reason. A cross bite was never mentioned but that's not to say I haven't got one. I don't know what one is. Would I know if I had one? The braces alone h...

Re: Is my palate VERY narrow? -anyone else with a narrow pal

I too hate my narrow smile. Have had my top braces on for 9 months and although they have made a difference on pictures, I still feel like my jaw is too narrow. I'm worried too that when the brackets come off, it will make it feel narrower still. I must say your arch looks pretty perfect to me howev...

Re: anyone else in braces to reverse damage by thumbsucking?

Just looked at your photos. Amazing progress. Your teeth look fantastic and a narrow arch is not evident at all. I'm too embarrassed to post mine now! So much worse. My overjet is my worse worry but the narrow arch is awful too. My fang teeth (forgotten proper name!) are rotated and my lowers very c...

Re: anyone else in braces to reverse damage by thumbsucking?

Me!! Just started treatment 8 weeks ago for a narrow arch and hoping to reduce my overjet a bit too. Surgery would give me the best result but I don't want to go down that path. What is your treatment plan?

Re: Starfish's braces

Wow! Your teeth look absolutely amazing! There is no way you won't like what you see! It will definately take a bit of getting used to but you will have a beautiful metal-free smile. Best of luck tomorrow. I can't wait to see your amazing de-braced smile! X

Re: Starfish's braces

Hi! I have loved reading your brace story, thanks. You have also given me lots of hope for my own treatment. Your teeth at the start really remind me of my own (except I have fillings and yours are far whiter than mine). I too am a dentist phobic, I work with kids (primary teacher) and am a veggie. ...

Re: Dude Braces @ 25 --- MapleLeafMan888 My Story

Glad things getting better for you! Me too - day 6, but like you I kind of feel a bit disappointed and worry that maybe the work of the wires is reducing. On the plus side I managed garlic bread (insides only - crusts put on my husbands plate!) which makes a change from soup and milk shakes. I have ...

Re: Hi! Newbie here

Congrats on the new braces. I'm on day 5 and my ulcers are definitely inproving. I also managed garlic bread tonight which makes a change from soup and milkshake. Things are looking up. Ceramics really are fab. So many people haven't even noticed and you will get used to them in no time. I still fee...

Re: Is it common to get just top braces at first visit?

You are so right!! I can't rub my lips together without real effort and the feeling my front teeth are going to shoot down my throat. On top of that my bottom teeth look crowded so I'm paranoid people are looking at me and thinking 'why the heck is she not sorting those out aswell!'

Re: Is it common to get just top braces at first visit?

I got my top ceramic braces on on Tuesday. I was surprised as I had expected both sets to go on at the same time. The dentist said he rarely braces up both jaws at the same time. I have to wait 16 weeks for my bottoms. I'm really glad now as my top teeth hurt like hell. It would be twice as bad if m...

Re: Newly braced

Hi! Thanks for the lovely replies. Great tip about the wax too - I'm sure I bought some wax for my youngest after he had his grommets fitted but may have been in his ears for swimming so probably not best to put it in my mouth. I've got some of those brushes too. At the moment it hurts to use them b...

Re: Hi! Newbie here

Hi. I just got my braces on yesterday but just the top set so far. Mine are ceramic and I'm a primary school teacher so was terrified about what my class of 6 year olds would say today. No one said a word. I don't know whether they just didn't notice or were too freaked out to ask!! My colleagues we...

Re: What was your first meal/food after braces?

Sweet corn soup! What a mistake. I spent the next hour picking out sweet corn skins from my very sore teeth. When I smiled after the soup I could barely see the braces for skins. Annoyingly I bought 4 cartons of the stuff too when I got out of the dentists.
