Re: 25 with braces for an impacted canine
You sound a lot like me. I had spaces between my top front teeth, but my parents never had money for braces when I was a teen. So I never had them and didn't let the spaces bother me. But when my dentist said I really ought to have braces to fix my impacted canine, I didn't hesitate...well, not much...

Re: 25 with braces for an impacted canine
Yes. That is exactly how my orthodontist did it too. I found it to be very painful every time except for once it didnt bother me much. Mine only took about seven months to move down before I got a bracket on it. I don't think I have a very high tolerance for pain though. I suppose I am glad I did it...

Re: Broken retainer :(
I had essix retainers for about a month before I got my Hawley retainers. They were very tight at first, but it got better after about two or three days. I am supposed to be able to wear either my Hawley or essix retainers but I mostly wear the hawleys because they are easier to get out and seem mor...

Re: Hawley color
I got my braces off June 4, 2015. I chose Hawley retainers because I thought they would last longer, and I got to choose a color. I chose purple glitter. They are really pretty cool, except that the glitter is unevenly spread in the acrylic, and so it is more glittery in some places and kind of most...

Re: 25 with braces for an impacted canine
Thank you NeilH! I am so glad to have my braces off. I am trying to get used to eating like a normal person again. It's very strange and I have to keep remembering I don't have any brackets to be paranoid about breaking! It's pretty cool to be able to eat what I want too. Ugh, I wish you all the luc...

Re: 25 with braces for an impacted canine
I finally got my braces off!!!! I am so happy and excited. I am very happy with the result. And interestingly, I have noticed that I have far fewer headaches than I did before braces. So I guess it was worth it. I think that my impacted canine was causing a lot more problems than I ever suspected it...

Re: 25 with braces for an impacted canine
I still have my braces on. I am really very tired of them though. I have been wearing rubber bands since November to correct my bite. I think I still have a few more months. My orthodontist hasn't really given me a specific time frame, but I know I am getting close to the end! I am so looking forwar...

Re: Right upper impacted canine exposure issue
I have braces for an impacted canine. I had exposure surgery. If I were you, I would at least try to get the tooth to move with orthodontics before you have it extracted. Mine came down fine, though it's not quite in the right place yet. My surgeon was awesome, though. A second opinion from another ...

Re: Treatment for fully impacted canine, help?
Your situation sounds exactly like mine. I found out about my impacted canine when my wisdom teeth started bothering me at age 24. I had them out but my oral surgeon said that the impacted canine he saw on my x-rays could cause problems later. I still had my baby tooth too. I went to my dentist for ...

Re: 25 with braces for an impacted canine
I got a real bracket on my impacted canine!! When I went to have my bottom braces put on, my orthodontist decided that my tooth had come down far enough that he could put a bracket on it. So he did that while he was putting on my bottom braces. It is starting to straighten out a little already, but ...

Re: 25 with braces for an impacted canine
Im glad it wasnt too bad for you. I think mine was done differently than yours was though from what you describe. My oral surgeon glued the button and chain on the impacted tooth and then put the gum back in place. I had no hole really, just a place where this little chain came out of my gum tissue....

Re: 25 with braces for an impacted canine
I wasnt sure what to expect before i had it done. But i was surprised because it didnt really hurt. It only just felt like a cut does. I thought it kind of stung more than it really hurt. But i was worried it would hurt like having my wisdom teeth out had hurt, but it was nothing like that. The oral...

Re: 25 with braces for an impacted canine
Thank you. My tooth is almost all the way down to where it should be. I just discovered this week that its down far enough that i can touch it with my bottom teeth. It is rotated funny and it is causing the lateral incisor to turn also. Not looking forward to having that fixed. I don't have bottom b...

Re: What is an overlay wire?
After five months, finally my impacted canine is down far enough that I can touch it with my bottom teeth. I am so excited! :jump: Finally, all this misery is coming to an end, except that I still don't have my bottom braces, which I will be getting in about 5 weeks. Hopefully, the worst is over wit...

Re: What is an overlay wire?
It turns out I didn't have to have an overlay wire. But I guess in this office its just another archwire on top of the one I already have. I never heard of having two archwires in one set of brackets. I guess he was going to use it to help pull down my impacted canine, but it was already through qui...
