Re: More women undergo this than men?

After browsing the Yahoo Group on orthognathic surgery and visiting a few websites, and then coming here, it seems to me that a lot more women are deciding to undergo this surgery than men. Am I right? Why is that? Gene, I would say you are right. I've thought the exact same thing. I think men, in ...

Re: gold ligs

Your gold braces look fantastic csblackburn ! I have no idea who the Red Sox are ... but those colours sound like they'd go great with gold braces! Go the Mighty All Blacks ! Thanks, KK. I wanted ceramics but since I'm getting Orthognathic surgery my orthodontist recommended against them a...

Just say "No" to popcorn unless you want to spend the next day digging corn shells out of your braces. Congratulations on joining the rest of us. I've been braced for almost 3 weeks now and I went through the same things you are. I'm still having a hard time smiling as I'm still self consc...

Re: Wisdom tooth flare up

I just had my wisdom teeth removed in a hospital surgery 2 weeks ago. Although, mine were erupted, fully in and healthy. Mine were removed due to needing that space for incisions during orthognathic surgery. My wisdom teeth had never hurt me at all until I had spacers put in. Yikes! the pressure aga...

gold ligs

I was too much of a chicken when I had mine put on 3 weeks ago. I decided to go with the gold ligs to go with the gold brackets. When my first adjustment comes in October, I'll be getting blue on top and red on bottom. Go Red Sox!

Spacers are the worst part

I've only been in braces for 10 days now. Spacers were terrible for me as well as I had 12 of them jammed in my teeth. It was extremely difficult to chew for the whole week and I can relate with the pain you feel. The real problem with mine were the force they were trying to exact against my wisdom ...

I will be having the surgery next summer. I'm already nervous!!! My lower jaw will be moved forward. I think in the scheme of surgeries, it ought to be one of the simpler ones. For those who have had this done, when do you recommend going back to work? What about air travel? My parents live out of ...

Sorry about the spacers =P. I know, they're not fun. Thanks. So far they are a complete pain in the (you know where). I have a total of 12 of them jammed in between my chicklets. My lower left side is killing me when I eat and I just want to rip them little blue meanies out. I've been avoiding keep...

spacers

I've just had 12 spacers put in today with the braces coming next Wednesday. 2 molars in each quadrant (I hope that's right) will be banded, thus the need for 12. So far, after 3 hours, not so bad. I barely feel the top ones due to the fact that I had the first premolars extracted on my upper jaw. S...

surgery

Peanut, Best of luck to you. I'm at the beginning stages of all of this so I'll be curious as to how everything goes. As Smile has mentioned, in B.C. we have to pay the surgeon's fees. My oral surgeon has told me that it will be somewhere between $4000 and $7000 depending on whether I need my lower ...
