Re: How to get the food in
...and in front of a mirror too since i have no feeling in my mouth. I made a sort of bib using a tea towel and a clothes peg which stopped me from having to change my top 3 times a day!

Re: How to get the food in
I've been using syringes for water and liquid food, couldn't have managed the first two weeks post-op without them!

Re: anyone else have the habit of pushing their jaw forward?
I was worried about this too, after my bimax before the bands went on I kept pushing my jaw out, my surgeon said it's just because of muscle memory which will adapt in time. The bands work well to hold the teeth together until you get used to the new bite. You just do it because it's what you've kno...

Re: Cheek
Same for me, i'm 19 days post op and i have the same problem with the left side of my cheek getting in the way of my bite. Its just caused by swelling and will go away... just try not to keep biting on it because it will keep swelling up xx

Re: Ear pain/deafness
I had the same thing after my Bimaxillary Osteotomy, I was getting so much pain in the left ear it was stopping me from sleeping. It helped keeping my ear warm, i used my dressing gown rolled up around my shoulders to support my head and keep my ears warm at night. My surgeon said it was normal cons...

Re: Starting to get scared
I am EXACTLY the same, ive been waiting six years and my op is in 5 days now. I've been so emotionally off balance, i've been tearful and I have barely slept for the past 3 nights. My mind is working in overdrive thinking about things i have to do for work before being off for that time, planning my...

Re: How to get the food in
My Bi-max surgery is on Friday and i'm really fretting about eating. I've made a lot of soup already.
When i asked my surgeon how I will eat he just said 'creatively' He said a nutritionist would come to seem on the Monday to talk about it.

Re: November 2013 Surgery Buddies
Oh it's getting close now, just 5 days to go for me. I'm having trouble sleeping, just cant believe it's really happening. I have a mixture of fear and excitement. I'm trying to think of what I might need to take with me. I saw my surgeon on Thursday and he's going to move my top jaw forward 3-5mm, ...

Hello Folks,
This is very useful, my op is in two weeks and i'm just starting to think about what I will need to take to hospital with me as well as things I will need at home when in recovery. I'm so happy I found this forum.

Re: November 2013 Surgery Buddies
Hello Folks, I'm a newbie here. I'm having my Bi-Max on November 8th. Tomorrow i'm having the first of two pre-ops, they are going to take blood,do impressions, take photos, xrays and give me a bit more info. I'm both terrified and excited in equal measure about the surgery. It feels like i have had...
