WOW thanks for all the info. I guess like anything else you just get used to it. I am interested to see how these elastics are going to work. I am getting close to the end of treatment so the wires are getting thicker and the ortho is getting creative (lol). I was going to try some color ligs but ba...

Elastics what to expect?

I am getting elastics in two weeks when I go in for my next adjustment and really don't know what to expect. I guess I will get a new archwire with some sort of attachment for the elsatics. I was wondering a few things. Do these things show when you are talking or does it just depend on where thet a...

Repositioning brackets and switching to metal

My ortho told me on my last visit that he would have to reposition a few of my brackets on my bottom teeth. I was wondering how common repositioning of brackets is. Also I have clear on both top and bottom and they are very rough compared to metal brackets I am told. I get sores inside my bottom lip...

I am back in braces for the second time because my teeth moved so much. My ortho now says I will have to have some sort of a retainer for life since my teeth like to move. I decided on a Lingual retainer where they will permanently bond a wire behind the teeth. I like this idea because it is always ...

Get the wire ties and your problems will be gone. I am also back in braces for the second time at age 36. I was going to try ligs for a color change bey never did.

ichephren , I have CLEAR brackets that are not ceramic. They are some sort of composite material that are actually clear and not tooth colored. These brackets combined with wire ties instead of regular ligatures are much less noticable than metal brackets. I really don't know the diference between ...

I kind of know where you are coming from since I am back in braces for the second time. For me the decision was easy. After all I went through the first time I wanted to keep that near perfect smile. I only have to be in braces for about six months and that I can easily deal with. This time I got cl...

If you don't want to worry about stains ask for Wire Ties as they can't stain. I just got a light grey power chain just like Meryaten said and so far no staining and it is hardly noticable with clear brackets.

HollyDontSpend , I am glad to hear your thoughts about permanent retainers. My ortho told be I would have to be "married" to a retainer when my braces come off and peremanent retainers were an option. I definitely like low maintenance aspect of them. I will definintely be getting them as ...

I just got back from my First adjustment a few hours ago. I was surprised they didn't change the archwire but still were able to cause me some pain. They added a power chain across my top teeth in order to close a small gap that appeared a few weeks ago. I almost jumped out of the chair when she put...

Yes, you will difinitely get used to them in a few weeks. I don't even notice them anymore unless I am eating as they are part of me. Some days though it seems things are moving and aching and other days noting at all. I go for my first adjustment next Tues. so I am sure I will feel them for a week ...

I was told to chew gum right away. They claim you will have less pain that way. I did and had no problems.
