I prefer my braces over the whole retainer thing. With the retainer you have to take them out everytime you eat and it's just such a pain. I vote for braces longer over my retainer. Just my personal opinion of what I have experienced.

Retainers Resturants

What does everyone do when eating out at a resturant? I just got my reatiners a week ago and it's a pain to have to remove my retainers in public so I go to the bathroom to take them out. It was much easier with braces. Does anyone have any suggestons?

I got my braces off a week ago and now have retainers upper and lower. I found the braces were easier overall. I could eat anytime without having to remove the retainers. Also when I go out to eat having to go to the bathroom and remove the retainers is such a pain compared to braces. Any thoughts?

I am back in braces for the second time. I was supposed to have these for about three months but it' will be a year next week when they are removed. If I had the Damons they said it would have been faster but whatever it's ok. Some of us are a bit slower I guess.

I got my wires removed last week for my impressions. After that they put the wires back on with new powerchains and next week the braces come off and I'll have my new retainers. I guess some orthos make your retainers the same day. By the way they showed me a box full of colors that I could choose f...

Thanks KK, I am really excited about the end. I am scheduled for my retainers in early September and debanding two weeks later. I am a little nervous about the whole retainer thing. I don't want my teeth to move again.

Blue Powerchain

I had an appointment yesterday and my gaps still haven't closed all the way so my ortho took off my old light blue powerchain and made some adjustments. I decided on a darker blue this time both top and bottom. I was going to try lime green on the bottom but decided against it. This is supposed to b...

My gaps are not closing either with my current powerchain and I don't even feel them pulling anymore. If they are only good for a short time I would rather get them changed often instead of waiting six weeks everytime.

I figured why not since by birthday is on the 6th lets have some fun with this. Now I am looking around to see what my next set of wild colors are going to be. I am however paranoid that I might stain or discolor my blue powerchains so I brush right after every meal.

Color Powerchain

Here is my first experience with colors. The actual color is a brighter blue than what the camera sees. I never knew power chains could be so much fun.

Powerchain Colors

I have braces for the second time since my teeth have moves after a few years and was supposed to only have these braces on for about 3-4 months. I am going on 9 months now and still not done. I am not complaining because I want great results not speed and I don't mind having braces. I have had clea...

Yes, I agree wire ties defintely rock. You just never have to worry about what you eat and they do help move things along a bit better. They may feel tighter than ligs but that is because they are. I have all wire ties and clear brackets. Takes a bit longer to change the wires but it's so worth it.

jennandtonic, did you try warming the way between your fingers. It seems to help the way stick better for me. Maybe it is just your wax that is bad or something. I never have problems with my wax staying on. You can buy way in the drug store or Wal-Mart if you need to. I hope this helps.

Yes, I was to have braces for about three to six months. Looks like six or longer the way things are going but that is OK as long as the results are good I don't care how long it takes. My braces really don't bother me so it's not a big time factor. This is my second time in braces so I just had a c...
