Re: New braces at 47!

I've actually adapted to them pretty well. They are there to pull back the underbite, which really doesn't have THAT far to go, maybe 5mm? I think I'll probably have to wear them in a different configuration then to get the bottoms centerlined about 2mm.

Re: New braces at 47!

Just thought I'd give an update. Just a little over 4 months with the braces on, incredible changes already, I just can't believe it. I only have two small gaps, one of those very small on the bottom, the other one about 1/3 width of my canine just behind it. Nearly everything is lined up pretty goo...

Re: Impressions? Did you have one?

I got full impressions, that 3D xray thing, before photos, a bag of SPAM, all sort of stuff the day of initial consultation, and after they presented me with the payment options and I agreed, they rushed me back to put in the initial spacers in the back, all on the very first visit. Even made me up ...

Re: New braces at 47!

I've also done much better with soft tissue irritation from the braces that I expected I would. A little in a couple spots on the check the first couple of days, then nothing until yesterday, now I have a new little spot. Nothing a little wax didn't fix. I figured after how my tongue reacted to that...

Re: Thanksgiving with Braces

Same here. It was mostly a non issue for me, and I was pretty worried since I got my braces the first time just a couple of days before Thanksgiving. While I eat much slower than I used to, I really didn't have any issues otherwise.

Re: New braces at 47!

Amazing how much your teeth can change in just a couple of weeks. Already my bottom teeth are much more level than they were before. They used to be on a slope. They are certainly quite loose. It's very disconcerting!

Re: Does your ortho shave down front teeth to even them out?

I had some pretty uneven edges on my two front upper teeth. He evened those out the day the first put the expander in. I asked about the bottoms, he said he wait til later in the process, which made sense to me. Doing those two uppers certainly made an immediate appearance improvement, despite them ...

Re: So I finally got my expander put in...

I was fortunate enough to only have to have the "W" appliance expander, and I hated that thing with a passion. Tore my tongue up pretty good, I was never so glad to have that off than the day he replaced it with a cross-pallet support wire. I know it's all for the better in the end, and pa...

Re: New braces at 47!

Thanks. They really worked together and I was surprised it cost way less than I thought it would and could make payments. Wish I had done it a long, long time ago.

New braces at 47!

Saw I that need to make a post right away per forum rules so here goes. I've been missing both of my lateral incisors my entire life, they never came it. I've lived my whole live smiling like a Jack-o-lantern! I've always been embarrassed by it. Getting older I started noticing some gum issues, knew...
