Expander?
Hi, haven't posted for a while but have decided (I think) to take the plunge. Booked my appointments today and she is starting with expanders. Totally freaking about the whole thing one minute and whether the whole thing will even work and the next thinking got to address it at some point. I'm 35 an...

Re: Damon Braces Journey/Open Bite
I am also following. Been great to follow it. Went to some appts the other week. Still have got absolutely no where. They told me to come back in sept to see if any worse and then can think about braces. Told me my gums need to be really healthy (and they're not!) so another thing to stress about. A...

Re: Damon Braces Journey/Open Bite
Thanks for the update. Am following your story closely and really appreciate your updates.
Still none the wiser with mine but had impressions etc done although now got another hospital referral. Hope you feel ok and make sure you painkillers to hand.
How long is your sentence estimated?

Re: Damon Braces Journey/Open Bite
Thanks both Missred and Anna. I'm originally from the midlands (brum). Think I'm going to the wrong places but have a dental hospital referral and my normal hospital are to see me at the end of the month. Both nhs. Are you being treated nhs or privately? Missred do you mind me asking how old you are...

Re: Damon Braces Journey/Open Bite
Hi, I don't suppose you are in London Missred? Are you just being treated for an open bite. I have been for a few consultations and so far haven't got anywhere with having my open bite treated. They said surgery risks outweigh the benefits, the orthodontists say that they can't treat it (as can't gu...

Re: Treatment decision: open bite, surgery recommended
Hi, I'm in exactly the same position as you. Still not sure what I'm going to do, even thinking ofperhaps leaving it. Surgery sounds very frightening although I will see what they suggest for me. I sometimes think orthodontics is constantly advancing and hopefully situations like ours will not need ...

Re: Extraction Orthodontic Nightmare
Hi, so sorry to hear what you're going through and really hope you get the correct support. I can't believe people thought you'd made the story up, too many finer details for that to be the case. I know how it feels to go through depression but when it's about your child it must feel a whole lot wor...

Re: Open bite panic
Thanks Anna. Been referred to hospital so awaiting appt. Will get onto it in new year. Been thinking about it as Yet I'm not in any pain. Need to know the consequences if I leave it. Most people around me advised against surgery, but I don't think they quite understand the problem and I need to know...

Re: Post op and struggling hard.
Hi Just wanted to show my support as you've been lovely to me. I hope you're feeling better since the last post. I actually find being around people is better. I always feel like shutting away but being in the company of people distracts you even temporarily. So hard when Christmas seems to be all a...

Re: Open bite panic
Playmaker where are you located? Thanks for your story. How are you getting on? My open bite is quite recent. It's not like I had it in my childhood and I'm now 34 and seems to have developed in the past year.

Re: refusing surgery for an open bite and crossbite
Hi. I'm really interested to hear success stories of open bite without surgery. Figure with all the constant advances with technology perhaps I could get away without surgery too. However I think this has only been developed in certain countries. Anyone from London with recommendations? I figure if ...

Re: Open bite panic
Thanks. Still no news as such . Hard to get time to speak to people along with work, family and bring so close to Xmas. Started to eat a bit and sleep but do not enjoy food. Went out with husband tonight and sat in restaurant and nothing appealed so picked the blandest food but still couldn't eat a ...
