Re: 2 Months post op - not happy

Hi Katuhlinn, I'm sorry you're going through all of this but I promise it gets better. I would suggest taking a note book to your appointments and anytime they change or add something ask them how you maintain it or what you need to do since they aren't telling you up front. I was wired shut them ba...

Re: hate post op at 4 months, will it get better?

Hi Jawsurgeryx3, I had 2 surgeries. The first to widen my upper jaw in preparation for the second and larger surgery. I healed much quicker on the first one. I saw big changes between 4 months and the one year post op mark. At 4 months I was still swollen. I wasn't allowed to chew until I hit 4 mont...

Re: Surgery didn't work!

Hello, My surgery was a two part process. A month after the 2nd (and biggest surgery) my teeth moved back. I was devastated. My braces were the culprit. My surgeon got my ortho on the phone and explained what was going on and then sent me over. They made adjustments and redid my elastics. I had to g...

Hi Kimnmoody! Congratulations on getting a date to have your braces removed! That's really exciting! :jump:

Hi Survenant, Yeah my surgeon said that too about the last 10%. I guess all we can do is wait this out.

Re: Nose after double jaw surgery

I'm 12 weeks postop and my nose is not yet settled. My surgeon said it will come down more.

I know it's hard but we have to try to be patient.

Congratulations on setting a date!

Make sure you have a variety of liquids and eventually soft foods. Also if you don't have one a travel pillow (u shaped) is a life saver.

Re: Kissing and Relationships

Thanks Sirwired, This whole thing has been a lot tougher then I expected. I went through the first one alone and thought I'd be better emotionally prepared for this one but it's taken its toll. I do have tingling and feeling in my lips so I guess that's a good dign. I guess this whole thing is a les...

Re: November 2013 Surgery Buddies

Hello November Buddies, I wish I would have found this site earlier. I had surgery November 19, 2013. This was my second surgery. I had double jaw surgery with genioplasty. It was pretty intense and unlike my first surgery I required lots of help when I returned home. I got through the first few wee...

Hi Ivonne,

I have Kaiser HMO in Southern California. Your cost will depend on the plan you choose and the co-pay that comes with the plan. Please feel free to contact me if you want additional information.
