I have ceramics as well and haven't had too many problems with staining, however pop (especially orange crush and coke/pepsi), popsicles, and soups (tomato based and some chicken noodle soups) do tend to stain the ligs. I use a whitening toothpaste every time I brush and the staining tends to go awa...

I overheard a guy I know talking to someone else and he said "damn, she's so cute with those braces on", it's always nice to overhear people when they don't think that you can hear them, because you know it's a genuine compliment. I've also had people say they admire my courage and confide...

oh my goodness SW, I feel for you. I couldn't imagine having to chew some of the medications that are out there. It's really good to get a description like that from you since we often learn about masking the taste of drugs with respect to children, who aren't able to express themselves as well as y...

ok, the pharmacist in me just has to reply. As far as using Tylenol for pain for two weeks or more, the people who posted about switching it up are absolutely right. When you use one type of pain medication too much, you can develop a sort of dependency on it and when you try to stop using it, you w...

I just went to my doctor's the other day because I had some bloodwork that came back, it turns out that I have high cholesterol. I'm 5'8", 139 lbs, 24 years old and female. I have always watched what I ate and excercised regularly. My doctor told me that the high cholesterol was genetic, since ...

I think the most important paragraph of the entire article is the last one: "It is an association. It doesn't demonstrate cause and effect, by any means," said Pihlstrom" The type of study performed is a correlational study, meaning they simply observed a positive relationship between...

Plaque and cavities?

I have a question. I tend to get alot of cavities, and have had them all my life (had 4 fillings when I was 3). A friend of mine has the same problem and her dentist told her that it was because her saliva is more acidic than normal and therefore causes more cavities, however that having acidic sali...

I tried using the Oral-B anti-bacterial with fluoride, but I haven't used it in a while because it always left that blue gunk in my teeth afterwards

Someone's out to get you?

I know some people out there have commented that sometimes they wonder if their ortho is a sadist who is trying to torture them, however the other day I got a comment that put a whole new spin on things. One of the patients in my hospital placement was a paranoid schizophrenic and after a while of t...

I totally agree. I've had my braces for just over 5 weeks and I've already lost 12 pounds. I find that most of the time I get tired of chewing before I'm full, so I'm eating a lot less. Plus I'm staying away from the candy and not snacking as much because I don't want to have to brush my teeth... ag...

I was thinking about making a post about this same thing today. I was very discouraged after taking my one month pictures today and realizing that not a thing has changed. My teeth have hurt from day one and they've gone through phases of feeling loose and all, but alas no movement except that my bi...
