Re: Not sure if my teeth are healthy enough for braces?
Your teeth don't look that bad in the pictures. I obviously can't see all the cavities, but I don't think your teeth look significantly worse off than the rest of us. Once you're all set with crowns/fillings, you may or may not end up needing a visit with a periodontist. Since you haven't been to th...

I've heard that ceramics can take a little longer, but 8 months sounds like a lot...

No surgery here, but I have Damons, which is another brand of self-ligating brackets. Good luck on your brace day and keep us updated on your progress!

It also just depends on your ortho. Mine uses permanent top and bottom, as well as clear retainers at night.

Re: NEWW
I would keep them on until your ortho says you're finished. You've been in them for 16 months already and have probably spent plenty of money on them, so I would stick it out and finish treatment.

Re: chichi is braced!
My next adjustment is 2 weeks from today, which means it's time for me to start feeling the braces working again. For whatever reason, I feel nothing between adjustments except immediately after one or the week before the next one. It doesn't hurt, but I'm feeling the pulling of the elastic on the r...

Re: Braces question
Ah ok. Invisalign is really only suited for relatively minor corrections and it sounds like you'll need more than what Invisalign is capable of. You will need to go into this expecting full braces (and possibly surgery recommendations). Definitely see more orthos and get some more opinions. You can ...

Re: Six month smiles and wedding!
First of all, congrats on being braced and the upcoming wedding!
It's definitely possible to have your braces removed and then put back on. You'll need to ask your ortho whether or not he/she will do it. I believe most will if you ask, but some will charge you for it and some won't.

Re: Braces question
Why do you think they'll say they can't do anything? Braces move the entire tooth - root and all.

Re: How long did you have to wear your powerchain for?
I just got a powerchain at my last appointment, only about 7 months into treatment. It's definitely not a sign that the end is near.

Re: A very strange permanent retainer
That must've been a huge yawn for you to see the backs of her top teeth. Are you sure it was brackets? My ortho uses permanent retainers that are glued to each tooth instead of the bar that's just glued to the canines. Perhaps you saw that it was attached to each tooth and your mind decided it looke...

Re: Cleaning Regimen
I brush and use Listerine morning and night and I do my flossing at night. A vigorous swishing after meals generally clears everything up. If I have something still stuck in the brackets after the swishing, I'll whip out the little tree brush, which does the trick.
